Sean-A-Meter

You figure it. Here, he was Typhoid Avery. On Broadway, he’s an agent of positive change.

Sean Avery scored a pair of power play goals today in the Rangers’ 4-1 win over Philadelphia. The second came with the help of a fortuitous bounce off Flyer defender Ryan Parent’s skate three minutes into the rare five-minute hooking major.

And then, Avery drew a charge from Andrew Alberts to keep the Flyers on the kill for another two minutes anyway. More than seven of Avery’s 16 minutes came on the power play.

In six games with New York, Avery has four goals and five points, and has even gone the last two games without sitting in the box. He had 10 points in his time with the Stars, though I realize he wasn’t signed to compile those stats. The Rangers have won four of six games to remain on the fringe of the East playoff hunt.
