Boomer Sooners: Rangers Prospects Neftali Feliz, Derek Holland Headed To Oklahoma City Rotation

A couple of more pitching moves worth discussing:

The club will start prized pitching prospects LHP Derek Holland RHP Neftali Feliz at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Feliz has already been sent to the minor league camp and Holland will be sent over after he pitches in today’ s game. Feliz made 10 starts at Double-A Frisco last year and has just 17 above low Class A. Holland made four starts at Frisco and has just nine starts above low Class A.

Attention Oklahoma City denizens of the Corner: The RedHawks open the season on the road at Memphis on April 9. The way the schedule falls, it appears that if Holland/Feliz are the No.s 1-2 guys in the rotation (and why wouldn’t they be), they wouldn’t pitch in Oklahoma City until April 19-20 against those same Memphians.

Drats, from a selfish perspective, that means we won’t be able to catch either on the few Frisco TV broadcasts.

  • Ehren

Well my Frisco tickets are now worthless!

  • Evan Grant

Hey, maybe we’ll all make a road trip to OKC on the 19th or 20th!

  • Evan Grant

Um, make that the 20th. That’s the Rangers’ off day.

  • Ehren

Sounds great to me. I’m all for a road trip. It won’t be a problem for me getting a day off.

Why the hell does this have to be titled Boomer Sooner though…almost made me turn away from the page

  • Big Cat

SI.com has their division winners picked and suprise no one picked The Rangers but Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler were picked by different writers as league MVP’s

Big Cat you don’t have to read it. Shorthorn huh?

  • Big Cat

Shorthorn…that’s cute from the Blowu crowd…But alas it had Ranger news so I did read it

  • boomer1

Well we are both Rangers fans so leave it alone then.

  • Bennie

Holland had a great outing today. Only gave up one run in four innings.

Yep, he won’t be in OKC to long if he keeps that up. Of course he did all of that off of a AAA lineup.

  • Big Cat

Boomer I will agree to the truce since it is true we are all Ranger fans… Man I can’t wait to see Holland in the ballpark

  • boomer1

Big Cat I can’t either. Just think of 2010 when the rotation might look like this. Bmac, Harrison, Holland, Feliz and maybe Sheets?

  • boomer1

Big Cat for the record I live in Arlington. Been down here since 1995.

  • Big Cat

I’m in Arlington too man…I can put my sooner hatred aside for a Rangers fan…I’m really hoping Sheets gets healthy and figures in somewhere

  • boomer1

As do I. Maybe around mid season. That would be a boost if he could come back by then.

Boomer! Y’all get up to OKC if you’ve never seen the ballpark. It is a beautiful, wonderful place to watch a game. I’ve missed OKC these past 6 yrs, but, alas, won’t get to see any games this yr either. Go Rangers!

I think this season is the last we will be overlooked for quite some time.

I always used to say my two favorite football teams are the Sooners and whoever is playing TexAss, but I certainly pulled for them when they beat the Trojans in ’05.

Bricktown is cool. I have been there. OKC has a nice downtown. Dude are you from Oklahoma, I’m from Drumright.

  • dude in Afghanistan

Yes, born and raised in metro area. Still have family there everywhere.

  • boomer1

Cool when you get back we will have to get together and have a beer and catch a game.
