Post-Game Show: Tigers 6, Rangers 4

This is a bad, bad loss, a very bad loss. Doesn’t matter what time of year it is. RHP Kevin Millwood pitched an exceptional game and the Rangers took a 4-0 lead to the eighth. They can’t lose those games.

So, it leaves us with one topic – and only one – to discuss: What is the deal with C.J. Wilson?

What a shame. Millwood deserved so much better.

He had an outstanding 2007… besides that he’s been the poster boy for inconsistency. He walks people, goes for long counts, gets pissed at his own mistakes to only get in to more trouble, etc, etc. Is it maturity? he’s not 20, so I wont give him the ‘benefit of the doubt’, a change of scenery might work for him.

Wilson gave up a home run, but then got a broken bat single, which should mean good location. Then an error that should have been an out, two shots to third, one uncatchable, but Mike Young looks like a statue over there. At short you have an extra split second to respond as the ball has farther to travel, and it looks like Young has trouble getting untracked after the ball is hit.

So don’t blame C.J. totally, the home run and maybe one of the balls hit to third were legit but after that the vaunted upgraded left side of the infield failed to come through.

- Blalock and Cruz left 6 runners LOB over the weekend series (3 each).

- Crush/Murphy/Salty are horrendous at the plate right now

I still believe it’s early in the season, but when do we start to ‘try’ different adjustments?

CJ needs to grow up and learn to focus…….and he might want to find a razor in the process……and lay off the twitters…….go ahead convince me he’s not just a trash talking punk with skills he can’t manage…………

CJ is a head case and we’ve known that for some time………we should go ahead and trade him before his value goes to zero…….

This was a very painful loss.

A lot of questions rise from it too. Questions regarding the bullpen, managing, bench, late-inning situational hitting…

I wouldn’t bunt if I were a power-hitter leading off, you may look good if you got on base, but you look terrible if you’re thrown out by 3-5 steps. Just work the count…

It’s going to be hard to shake this one off.

This bullpen looks like an EF-5 Tornado hit it and there is nothing that can be done. If this team is to get better it won’t matter how good the starting pitching is unless they can pitch a CG every time out. This bullpen sucks. They had a chance to go out and get Cruz or Ohman or Biemel but Big Daddy Hicks put his 12 pounder down.

dwc, this team is and was not going to be a playoff team this year. But if they have any hope for next year they need to get the pen figured out.

What’s wrong with CJ? It’s simple – he stinks, and he’s a headcase. That’s not a good combination if you’re looking for someone to help win you some ballgame.

What’s so sad about this scenario is that the Rangers repeatedly put pitchers on the mound that baseball people just snicker at because they know they have no upside or chance against real players…..
And management never seems to learn enough to go out and sign real ballers………
Who in the Rangers organization is making the pitching decisions? C’mon boys belly up to the bar and take responsibility for the garbage you keep trotting out to the mound…….We’re sick of it and we are angry as hell……..now pull your head out of your ass and stop giving away our pitchers or go work somewhere else……and CJ Ranger fans will never love a punk like you…………

Evan are you serious about these Tweets? 11 tweets this morning? If that is the case, CJ has no comeback for the comments about his lack of focus. It is so hard for us to imagine, but sometimes there are guys who despite tremendous ability, just aren’t that into playing pro sports. see; Williams, Ricky (football)

We need to find someone more committed for the set-up role ASAP.

The problem with CJ is that he sucks, is a headcase, and isn’t nearly as good or cool as he thinks he is.

I winced when they put in CJ with a 4-0 lead. The absolute last pitcher on the staff I want on the mound in that situation. Guardardo would have been my choice for the 8th.

CJ Wilson is a AAAA pitcher at best. He’s not good enough to pitch consistently in the Majors.

CJ has good stuff it’s his head. When he gets into trouble he doesn’t trust his stuff then it goes downhill from there.

So Aaron, what was spring traning? He looked great in Arizona and looked great Opening Day. Yes he sucked today but the kid has good stuff. He has pitched in 4 of the first 6 games. Don’t you think maybe just maybe Wash needs to manage the bullpen a litte better?
