Eyre Apparent: Willie Eyre Joining Rangers Bullpen

The bullpen situation is forcing the Rangers to go to RHP Willie Eyre a little earlier than they wanted. GM Jon Daniels said the club wanted Eyre to have a two-inning appearance at Triple-A Oklahoma City before activating him from the DL. But, that was before last night’s game, in which Eddie Guardado, C.J. Wilson and Frank Francisco all pitched and made themselves unavailable for tonight. No official announcment has been made on Eyre, but the expectation has been all along that he would replace RHP Warner Madrigal, who also pitched last night.

UPDATE: That move is official. Eyre activated; Madrigal optioned.

good… i was getting tired of the same old guys blowing leads and losing games for us. at least we’ll have a new face to help us lose in gut wrenching fashion now.

hmm, i really wanted to keep Mad Dog up here, he was actually a guy i somewhat like in our pen. Im glad Eyre is here, but i feel like Feldman and Eddy are much better options to get rid of.

Good move on pitching, just not as deep as is needed. Other options should include “SAAAALTY” down to AA to really learn about catching. How about “SUNNY” for manager or “Rusty”, either one would at least get some respect on the field.
