Viral Video: Rangers Prospect Tommy Hunter

Marlon Byrd talked to InsideCorner on Wednesday, then went out and piled up five hits. Tommy Hunter talked to us yesterday ahead of his first start of the season for Double-A Frisco tonight? Is it a good luck charm to visit with us. We shall see.

Especially like the freeze frame producer, director and lighting coordinator Ted Price of Rangers Podcast in Arlington caught of Hunter at the start. He’s looking at me like I’m nuts. Well, I am. More video coming over the weekend.

    Evan, the videos are great – please keep it up! With the Rangers trying to help Hunter develop a third pitch, do they view him as a member of the rotation down the road? My impression was that he was viewed by the organization in the long-term as more of a bullpen guy, or perhaps a Scott Feldman-type long reliever/spot starter.

    Always heard the words “Joe Blanton” when the Rangers talked about Hunter, so, no, they view him as a starter. At least for the time being.

    These videos ice the Inside Corner cake! Great idea, and yes pictures can be worth a thousand words – and video clips like these that are well directed with good questions and player response are golden.

    The rib-eating contest would be interesting. Hunter using his jujitsu (sp?) powers to overtake the ribs. You may have quite a contest on your hands EG.

    DMag management: Please continue to pay Evan, Ted and MJH and adequate per diem to continue making these sweet little vids. Vid interviews with prospects is an innovative addition to the Rangers blogosphere, and DMag was first.
