Your Texas Rangers Bullpen Move Of The Day

This is becoming such a regular feature, we should line up a sponsor. … Get me advertising!

Anyway, RHP Willie Eyre, as expected, was placed on the DL after aggravating his groin strain.  RHP Luis Mendoza has been promoted after going 2-0 with 10.1 scoreless innings at Triple-A Oklahoma. Mendoza walked six, but struck out 13. PCL opponents have hit .108 against him. He hasn’t pitched since last Sunday, so he’d be available for long relief tonight.

Just to recap your Rangers bullpen, it now looks like this: RHP Frank Francisco (closer), RHP Jason Jennings, LHP C.J. Wilson, LHP Eddie Guardado, RHP Luis Mendoza, LHP Derek Holland, RHP Darren O’Day.

It’s been a whirlwind out there.

    What’s the deal with CJ?

Will we make a move for
    Vizcaino?

What’s your take on Mendoza? He pitched pretty well two years ago when brought up, and pitched awful last year. I assume he was injured as well.

You weren’t asking me but I’ll give my take. Saw Mendoza in DC last year. I was impressed. He’s got stuff, he’s a horse. I liked his mound presence in that game, he came in in relief. The bullpen is probably right for him right now, in short bursts he can be dominant.

His achilles seems to be confidence, and when it’s lacking there follows a loss of focus and ultimately, a meltdown. He needs to trust his stuff. It’s pretty good.

he’s terrible and should be optioned immediately and replaced with a monkey

  • Feldman stinks

Seriously, if Feldman starts Saturday instead of Holland, Washington should be euthanized on the spot. Idiots.

Seriously don’t get why people hate Wilson so much. He has been horrible in one game this year, and the rest of the time has been decent.

He’s by far their best option for the 8th inning role at the present time. Benoit would be, but Benoit is out. Aki Otsuka isn’t coming back. Wilson is the best they have. Ideally, he could pitch middle relief until he gets his confidence back, but the Rangers don’t really have that luxury.
