When I last saw Evan late Saturday night, he muttered something about catching a 9 a.m. Sunday flight to Sea-Tac. (Excuse me, the players haven’t left yet!) So he’s off in another time zone.
The lineup for tonight’s game (7:09 first pitch on ESPN) against John Danks: 1. Kinsler 2B, 2. Andrus SS, 3. Young 3B, 4. Jones LF, 5. Blalock DH, 6. Byrd CF, 7. Cruz RF, 8. Davis 1B, 9. Teagarden C. With Matt Harrison on the mound.
Ron Washington on Elvis Andrus hitting second while Michael Young has dropped to third in the absence of Josh Hamilton: “I thought about it maybe a week or so ago. Because I’m not able to do much without having a solid second hitter. The guy can bunt, hit-and-run, just like I used Vizquel last night. This’ll be good for him. Now we can use his talents a little more. Instead of going 0-for-3 facing a tough pitcher, he may go 1-for-2, 0-for-2 ’cause a sac bunt puts us in position to score some runs.”
Andrus said it actually is more of an adjustment to bat ninth instead of high in the order, where he hit through most of his minor league career: “It feels good when I hit second. I can do all my game. Wherever they put me, I’m going to go 100 percent.”
Also, Kris Benson took the loss making a rehab start at Frisco today against Corpus Christi in a 5-0 game won by Brandon Backe. Benson allowed three earned runs on five hits, with four strikeouts, one walk, one HBP and one home run, Threw 62 pitches (44 strikes). He is scheduled to start again for the RoughRiders on Friday at home against San Antonio.

That was quick. No one raised their hand to say Kinsler would hit his third leadoff HR of the year, eighth of his career.
I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I freaking knew it. I didn’t post it because it seemed too improbably. I was actually going to put “Kinsler for another leadoff”. Oh well, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. . . and I failed on it.
I might as well call it every game from now on as long as our best 3-hole hitter is still in the leadoff spot.
