Wouldn't it be nice if we had an arm in the bullpen we could actually use instead of the washed up Benson taking up space.

Get him out of there and try somebody else. Anybody would be better than he's been and nobody would do any worse. If the first one doesn't work, try again until we find somebody.

I just don't understand keeping a worthless veteran who is not going to be here when things really get going.

@Michael- I'm sure Evan has better info than me, but Mike Hinckley was DFA'd by the Washington Nationals after walking 11 men in 9 innings, including a walk that scored the winning run just before his reassignment.

I'm curious about how much confidence the coaching staff has in Benson and Jennings. If you can't use them ahead by 7 when can you use them. Neither have pitched in quite awhile either. Is there a reason for that? Of course if Padilla throws another complete game that solves that problem. But it's obvious the Angels hit a little better than the Sox and the Mariners.

Evan,

Will you post an update on the weather as soon as you have it? I have two little ones and don't want to head out there before I need to (and can keep my littlest napping -- why do kids need to be woken up on school days but on weekends wake up at the crack of dawn?!!).

Evan,
I thought the bull pen management last night was terrible. You don't think that if you pull Holland after the 8th he is available for one inning or at least one lefty hitter on Sunday? Be nice to run him out there to get Abreau in the 7th or 8th. Especially after he had the head-ache problem before the game...Stupid.

That doesn't even cover bringing in O'Day to face a lefty, and then CJ to face a righty. Wash screwed the whole inning up. I know they were up big, but he ended up burning three pitchers in that inning for nothing. CJ is likely going to have to pitch all three days and he looks terrible at the moment.

Once the decision was made to bring Holland in after the headache, then letting him try to close the game was the a good decision by the coaches and manager! Holland needs the work, he needs to learn how to deal with inconsistent umpires, and he needs to develop the ability to concentrate when the game is "in hand".

Let's see how Jennings and/or Benson do as needed. If Benson continues to under perform, then Eyre is close to ready. A worthy experiment by JD did not work but at least he tried.

Evan: Any news on the recent pick-up from the Nationals? What's the deal with his low ERA.
