Just wondering how Hamilton feels about the "lonely stoner" song being the team song? I kinda like the song, it's catchy, not Shakespeare or anything but whatever... seems like an odd choice for team song, though.

Does it make me Type 2 to not know what the problem with the wave is? I thought that was part of baseball in the summer?

Pedro went to the Ranger's game on Friday night and had the following observations:
1. They have to have a better head shot of Kinsler than the one they post on the jumbotron when he bats. The current picture is TERRIBLE! He looks constipated (at least how I would assume he looks when he is constipated). 2. The new electronic signage is cool - nice addition. 3. These guys are fun to watch and feeling good about themselves. 4. What's with the wave? I hate it and am embarrased when the fans start doing it. 5. Josh is a monster (460 ft home run). 6. I love double plays. 7. The fireworks show after the game was pretty good actually.

Admitted type 2 fan here. You will, however, see an ice storm in July before you see me participate in a "wave" for any reason.

Bob,

I am definitely a Type 1 and on more than one occasion (just happened again after reading your piece) I start to day dream about a world series and I just start crying. Like I do everytime the pod re-enters the atmosphere in Apollo 13. I get overcome by how I know I will be overcome by emotion if and when that finally happens. The other day my wife even cried because she knew how much it would mean to me.

You nailed it - I have been comparing this to 90-91 Cowboys, but your Maverick analogy is also perfect. There is magic in the air and I'm going to do all that I can to make sure my little boy never forgets this Summer.

The only thing that makes it even better is that I was telling everyone that would listen for the past 12 months that this day was fast approaching. 6 months nobody knew wwho the heck I was talking about when I mentioned Holland, Feliz and Elvis. Now tthey do!

Go Rangers.

The funny thing is that until the Wave, I thought the crowd was reasonably knowledgeable and engaged. They cheered at two-strike counts, didn't go apeshit for routine fly balls, and groaned at Kinsler swinging at the first pitch with men on first and second and no outs in the sixth. It was all so foreign. And then the Wave started, and reminded me that I was, in fact, in Arlington, Texas.

Bob, please tell fans to stop doing the wave unless your team is up by 15 runs.

I think massive signage is going to have to be created by the wiser fans, letting everyone know what's up. "9th inning = No Waves Please?"
