C.J. Wilson makes it look relatively easy in closing out the Astros for the save, which also keeps Frank Francisco fresh for Sunday’s series finale.
So, here’s the post-game topic: Are you comfortable enough with Nelson Cruz’s progress right now to give him an extended look at the cleanup spot? I’m not just asking you, I’ll be asking Ron Washington that, too.
Yes. I like Cruz/Blalock hitting 4-5.
Yes, wash said that was where he was going to hit when the season began anyway.
YES !!!
Kick some butt, Nellie !!
i too make my decisions with washington’s gut. the gut called it right today. so i say go with it.
Cruz is hitting great this past week. He is showing some nice stick. He will help Hamilton alot much like MB did last year!
Yes. Cruz should be hitting 4th, if for no other reason than to avoid having Hamilton and Blalock hitting back to back.
with you becca
Yes.
Cruz is great in the cleanup spot as long as he’s getting fastballs over the plate in Minute Maid Park.
Let’s see him keep it up for a spell before we crown him again.
Blalock is horrible with RISP. HORRIBLE!
Cruz doesn’t have to hit a homer every game to be far better than Hank in protecting Hamilton.
Yes. He at least will look at a few pitches and is willing to go the other way on occasion. I’ve seen enough of Hack in the cleanup spot to know that I don’t want to see it again.
Cruz HAS TO stay in the cleanup spot cause if he’s not a cleanup guy I’m sending him off in a deal for pitching……..But if he can drive in those runs and work on his jump then he could stay for a while……but Hambone needs to move before he’s killed in a bodywall collision…….we’ve got to move one or more of the position players at the deadline if we plan on getting any compensation or bullpen help………..
Blalock could be moved now if we were willing to take a long term pitching prospect….or a Jonathon Sanchez may be available with a sweetener…..good for both teams because they are both blocking young talented prospects……..good for the front office also…….
Blalock is terrible in any spot right now.
Scott Feldman might be a better option at cleanup over Blalock.
Tell me this? Other than Arlington, has there ever been a time in Nelly’s baseball career that he didn’t hit cleanup? Is there anyone better qualified to withstand the pressure of doing so?
Over the years we’ve seen marquis name after marquis name try to produce out of the 4-hole….to no avail. Let Cruz in.
