Triple-A: Albuquerque 4 @ Oklahoma City 2
In his PCL debut, RHP Omar Poveda scattered four runs on five hits and four walks, fanning three. The 22 year old Venezuelan delivered 52 of his 94 offerings for strikes.
1B Nate Gold led another shot effort from the RedHawks lineup, going 2-for-4 with a double while C Emerson Frostad, in his second game back with OKC after nearly a month with Frisco, went 1-for-3 with a triple and a pair of walks to drive in one.
Double-A: @ NW Arkansas 11, Frisco 2
Making his first appearance in three weeks, RHP Jared Hyatt (0-3; 10.13) was pounded by the Naturals for five runs on eight hits in just three innings of work.
After spending the weekend with OKC, RF Adam Fox (.233 / .277 / .372) returned to to the RoughRiders and delivered his third homer of the year in a 2-for-4 outing. After a white hot April and three ice cold weeks of May, SS Marcus Lemon (.291 / .369 / .364) has settled in to a reasonable pace. His 2-for-4 outing was the eighth game in the last ten in which he has hit safely, but only his second multi-hit performance during that span.
Advanced-A: Bakersfield 1 @ Visalia 0
LHP Richard Bleier (2-3; 5.35), who has oscillated between unhittable and gas-on-a-fire combustible since his promotion to the Blaze enjoyed his finest hour as a professional, firing off a complete game shutout while allowing just two base hits and one walk, striking out three and getting an astounding 19 ground ball outs.
A solo shot by 1B Ian Gac (.225 / .289 / .408), his fifth of the year, accounted for the game’s only run.
Class-A: Hagerstown 4 @ Hickory 3
Making his second start after a three week stint on the DL with a strained oblique, RHP Wilfredo Boscan (3-2; 0.99) went just 4.2 innings, allowing four runs, only two of which were earned, on seven hits and no walks, fanning three. Boscan now has 18 strikeouts and only four walks in 27 innings of work this year. The Sally League — after getting to him for seven hits last night — is hitting .152 against the 19 year old.
RF Mike Bianucci (.340 / .402 / .610) posted his seventh multi-hit performance in his last 10 games, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. He ranks second in the Sally League in both batting average and OPS, and leads in slugging percentage.
Thanks, Mike. Did I miss a Neftali start, or did he?
Mike:
Hasn’t M. Bianucci had an OPS of over 1.000 for about two months now? Any chance he gets promoted soon? If so, to Bakersfield or Frisco? After a successful collegiate career and two months of killing Sally League pitching, I’m not sure low A is the place for him at this point.
