10:27: The home run pool is open for your enjoyment.

10:28: Matt Harrison is off to make a rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Saturday. He had no residual problems after throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday. Harrison is eligible to come off the DL Wednesday and it appears he could very possibly meet that schedule as long as he encounters no problems on Saturday. He’s likely to throw 50-60 pitches in that rehab outing.

10:33: In case you haven’t heard, Rangers radio voice Eric Nadel is out of action after undergoing emergency surgery to repair a pair of tears in his right retina. The prognosis is good, but its uncertain how long he will be out of action.

11:20: MLB has suspended Yankees RHP A.J. Burnett for his buzzing of Nelson Cruz on Monday, which was retaliation for the two times Mark Teixeira was hit by pitch by Vicente Padilla earlier in the game. Padilla was fined an undisclosed amount.

11:36: About today’s broadcast: Eric Nadel’s shoes are so big to fill, it will take two pairs of shoes to fill. PR Master John Blake (a former play-by-play man for Georgetown) and Rangers Hall of Famer Jim Sundberg (also a former TV analyst) will fill in. Steve Busby will join Barnett in Boston for the Red Sox series.

11:47: When Josh Hamilton has a second opinion with Dr. William Meyers on Monday and Philadelphia, one possibility that will be discussed is a rather new surgical procedure for repairing sports hernias. The procedure significantly shortens recovery time to a two-to-four week period. Hamilton, who joined the team this morning, said he has not felt any significant improvement while resting and taking oral anti-inflammatories. So, is he preparing for surgery?

“Well, this sucks, but I’ll be OK,” Hamilton said. “Im prepared for whatever happens. Whatever happens, there is a plan for that. I’m not going to get frustrated or get down.”

12:19: I don’t think the combination of Yankee Stadium’s jet stream effect and Brandon McCarthy’s fly ball tendencies make this a great match for the Rangers pitcher – as evidenced by Johnny Damon’s leadoff homer and Nick Swisher’s double off the wall. Entering the game with 0.79 ground balls per fly ball, McCarthy ranked 41st of 45 qualifers in ground ball-to-fly ball ratio.

1:06: I remind you of Chris Davis’ change in undergarments for this series and point out that he now has three hits and three RBIs since making said change.

1:24: Just heard in the press box: “Nelson Cruz is the best player in the history of the freaking game.” That’s right, I said it.

1:25: Hey, who’s excited about the new season of Burn Notice starting tonight? I am. Seriously.

1:34: Another day without a home run pool win. Longhorn Matt had Cruz in the fifth, but that was as close as he got.

1:48: Jason Jennings, on in relief of Brandon McCarthy, allowed a leadoff single to Alex Rodriguez, which scored Mark Teixeira. Jennings has allowed five of 10 inherited runner to score this season. A 50 percent rate for inherited runners is not good.

2:39: Lyle Overbay struck out with two outs and two on to end the game as those L.A. Angels held off Toronto, 6-5. For the moment, the Angels trail the Rangers by 4.5 games in the AL West.

2:51: Leadoff walks = slow death. Ruined C.J. Wilson streak of 13.1 innings without an earned run. He walked left-handed hitting Robinson Cano to start the inning, then gave up a one-out homer to Melky Cabrera on a fastball that didn’t seem to get inside just enough. Say this, though: David Murphy did a great job of timing his jump at the wall.

2:55: Today’s rally song: U2′s Two Hearts Beat As One. Hey, it’s what happened to pop up on the iPod.

3:07: Folks, you can’t really complain when you’ve got your hottest hitter at the plate (Nelson Cruz) representing the go-ahead run against Mariano Rivera in Yankee Stadium. At least that’s my stance.

    Evan,

If Josh winds up being down for 2 months, would you anticipate a point where they move Elvis to the #2 hole? He doesn’t strike out, he DOESN’T seem over matched and he handles the bat extremely well. You could then drop Davis and Salty (with their Ks) to the 8-9 holes. You would really utilize the hit and run at the top of the lineup and put tough pressure on the pitcher with men on base.

I understand you don’t want to give Elvis too much too soon, but I would be intrigued by this lineup (at least until we trade for Nick Johnson and Brad Hawpe!!).

  • Auditor

Mon Dieu, it is barley after 11 am and I am already getting my baseball fix.

  • scooper

Hey, Evan! Great to see you bright and early!

  • Evan Grant

@Jack Daddy: I think the feeling (and it’s one I happen to agree with) is to move as few bodies around as possible. In Hamilton’s absence, I expect to see Hank Blalock and Andruw Jones rotate at the No. 3 spot so as to keep Michael Young in a spot where he’s traditionally had the most success. I just think you weaken yourself more when you move multiple players around to address one absence.

  • Evan Grant

@scooper: It’s good to be here.

  • scooper

@evan: I’m sure it is! I bet you’re having a blast in NY!

  • becca

feel free to let the rangers know that i am free for the boston series as well, if they need a third for this weekend.

    thank you.

  • scooper

@becca: a trip to Boston would be great, wouldn’t it!?
@evan: sounds like surgery to me. I like the sound of the recovery period for the new surgery.

  • scooper

Yeah! Steve Busby has picked Tex as his “player to hex”!

  • scooper

Well, I guess we will see today if B-Mac has REALLY turned a corner in pitching progress. A complete game against Houston is great; now let’s see what happens against the Yankees in the Bronx!

  • Jed E.

@Evan. Any Ranger-related Tom Glavine news? (Sorry if this has been addresses in another Blog entry.)

  • Juboon

Oh, thank God, Ranger baseball to liven up an afternoon in a windowless cubicle on a beautiful June day! Didn’t know they had a day game today! Now if only Eric was on… Ohwell, we’ll all wing it.

  • The Beer Guy

Josh said: “Well, that sucks…” Does this mean he will be banned from the Ballpark?

  • walrus

There are some reports on the net that the Phillies and the Mets may claim Padilla. Any thoughts on that Evan?

  • Jed E.

Well Wang made that look easy.

  • Clint

Wow, 1-0 already, not sure that B-Mac can survive in the homer-happy Yankee Stadium, may be a long day.

  • The Beer Guy

Let’s see if McCarthy can settle down again after another rough first inning.

  • The Beer Guy

    Ridiculous call, sad.

  • jacklo

Whew!! Thanks, Tex for the double play.

  • scooper

Murph caught that ball! That ump was just wrong!

  • Little O

This is looking like one of those days. Did everyone stay out until 5 in the morning or something?

  • Juboon

SaWEEET! As someone said yesterday, “Yankee Stadium: Where Elvis Andrus happens.” And I *love* that it Tex! Poetic justice…

  • scooper

At least the inning turned out OK!

  • Clint

Can someone please describe the Murphy error and the double-play, ESPN Gamecast isn’t very descriptive??

  • The Beer Guy

@Clint: Routine fly to Murphy, he caught it squarely in his glove and it appeared to slip out of his throwing hand on the transfer from the glove. It was very casual and under control, no bobbling, etc. Terrible call by the ump. Wash came out and looked reasonably angry (for Wash).

  • scooper

Murph caught a fly ball, routine catch just above eye-level. He lowered the glove to get the ball for the throw and the ball fell to the ground.
Cruz was throwing to third and Elvis cut off the throw just past second. Tex was trying to go to second, but stopped when Elvis cut the throw. Elvis ran toward Tex and Tex tried to go back to first. Elvis tagged Tex right before Tex got back to first.

  • Clint

Thanks Beer Guy and scooper, very helpful.

  • The Beer Guy

Is it just my imagination (and bad memory), or are there a lot of day games for Texas this year?

  • scooper

@clint: Murph was a little casual when taking the ball from his glove; he was watching to see if the runner was going to try to go to third.

  • scooper

@beerguy: quite a few get-away day games, also some Saturday games televised by FOX.

  • The Beer Guy

I guess I can see how the ump could make the call, but it’s quite clear on replay IMO. Thankfully it didn’t hurt.

  • walrus

    Great inning for McCarthy.

  • jacklo

    Much better inning for B-Mac

  • The Beer Guy

@scooper: Yeah, sure seems like the vast majority of get-away games are early afternoon starts. Not so good for fans though!

  • scooper

@beerguy: Murph lowered his glove almost to waist-level and was reaching for the ball before it fell out. Just the fact that it remained in the glove from above eye-level to almost waist-level should have been enough.

  • Juboon

    Go Chris! Go Chris!!

  • scooper

Way to go, Crush! I really think he’s coming out of it!

  • The Beer Guy

It’s looking much better for CD!

  • Clint

I like seeing Crush go the other way, had a couple long flyouts to left here recently, too. Still a long way to go, but even a little progress is nice.

  • scooper

that is the first time in a long time that elvis hasn’t come through with good situational hitting.

  • scooper

@evan: do you think that Wang will be on some kind of a pitch count? If so, about how many? This is his first start after the DL and pitching out of the ‘pen.

  • scooper

    Thank you!

  • scooper

Davis wanted to make sure that he touched home.

  • The Beer Guy

Call that pitch the “Mark Wohlers Special”

  • Ghost of Jeff Kunkel

Listening to the radio broadcast now…

    …it’s kinda brutal.

    I miss Eric.

  • scooper

    Way to go, Hank!

  • Juboon

Right there with ya, Ghost… hope it improves as they move along…

  • The Beer Guy

    Yeehaw! Nice hittin’ by Blalock

  • scooper

@Ghost and Juboon: give the guys a break! this was an emergency start!

  • jacklo

It sounds like an old time radio announcer.

  • Evan Grant

@Jed E: Don’t see the Rangers pursuing Glavine. Not at 43. There is no room for him in rotation at this point.

@Walrus: I would bet there is no way the Phillies would claim Padilla. They’ve already seen that act and I don’t think they would care to have any part of it. The Mets might be desperate enough, but they would have to be pretty desperate to take on $8 million in salary for an unpredictable starter with three trips to the DL in the last two years.

  • The Beer Guy

Dunno about you all, but I’m pretty happy with us not bringing Bradley back. Facing his third injury of the season, batting .220…

  • scooper

@beerguy: I still can’t believe a NL team signed him. There is nothing in his history to say that he could stay healthy enough to play in the field all year.

  • Juboon

@scooper: Oh, I know, and I like the old-time sound — it’s just a bit hard to follow what’s going on in places. Not used to the different cadence, y’know? ;) But it ain’t like I’m not gonna listen! Supportin’ the emergency crew!

  • The Beer Guy

Death, taxes, and a home team yahoo who decides him catching a ball trumps his team’s fortunes. Three things you can count on.

  • Clint

Nice shutdown inning, now let’s add a couple more.

  • Ghost of Jeff Kunkel

@scooper: I’m being patient with them… it was meant to be more a statement about Eric’s quality than their lack thereof.

@jacklo – I agree about the old-time sound. The call on Cruz’ catch just now could have been from the 40′s if a little craclking and sound degradation was added!

  • The Beer Guy

Heh, I’ll tune in to the radio feed and check it out. I like the radio team, but to be honest, the commercials are so unbelievably annoying that I can’t take listening to the games on the radio. My MLB.com feed goes dark during TV commercials, so it’s far less annoying.

  • Juboon

@Ghost — and due to the reception inside this building, I’ve got that (lol). Sounds pretty cool, actually!

  • Rodney

    DaMurph!

  • walrus

I think Davis may be back.

  • Clint

Welcome back, Crush, nice to have you back.

  • Marcus

@Ghost: I agree, John Blake is TERRIBLE. I’m glad he used to do radio for Georgetown. But this is the big leagues, fellas, let’s please hurry up and get Busby in there. Blake was just as brutal in Spring Training, BTW. But, at least the games didn’t matter and you were just happy to hear baseball.

But on a happy note, sounds like the Rangers have Wang figured out.

  • scooper

Crush is back! And he’s having his coming-back-out party at Yankee Stadium!

  • scooper

@evan: do you think it is the “magic red thong”?

  • becca

he got two rbis with that double too, right?

  • Dylan

Davis looking like a hitter today!

  • The Beer Guy

Go Davis go! I think I’ll wear some thong underwear to work tomorrow, maybe get a raise or promotion or something.

  • becca

thongs just give me wedgies. but if they give davis doubles, i can’t hate them that much.

  • scooper

@becca: yep! in other words, he is not only getting hits, he’s getting them when they matter!

  • scooper

@becca: I guess he better get used to wedgies. that thong may not be coming off for a while.

  • scooper

of course, i guess it couldn’t have anything to do with Giambi telling him that all of the players know he is a big-league player.

  • Rodney

    BMac is BACK!!!

  • becca

nice inning for the good guys.

  • Marcus

@Rodney: Before this year, was he ever really here?

  • Ghost of Jeff Kunkel

Ugh. Blake just called Brandon “Brendan” McCarthy.

I’m glad Eric is on a plane right now, lest his blood pressure be unnecessarily high.

  • jacklo

@Rodney: True, this is what they thought they were getting when they traded for him originally.

  • Evan Grant

@Ghost: I think John Blake was using the New England pronunciation. He deserves a break, he’s doing two jobs today.

  • scooper

What a smash! Way to go, Nellie!

  • becca

    home run nelly!

  • scooper

I can just see his dad up there: “That’s my son!”

  • Michael in LH

Nellie is putting on a good show for his folks. Awful nice of him. :)

  • big bob

cd deserves a new nickname since he’s not a minor league lifer. I propose el lobo in reference to the Longview lobos.

  • Rodney

Blake is also running on about 3.5 hours of sleep.

  • Rodney

The Yanks cut their Wang off…Oh Noes!

  • Juboon

@BigBob: I’ve been calling him Gumby. But I know that probably doesn’t set the right tone. :D

  • The Beer Guy

Did Josh actually just say “The Wanger is done for the day”? Oy…

  • Ghost of Jeff Kunkel

    @Evan: I’m sure you’re right… I need to let it go – it’s not like I’d do any better.

Plus, the guys are playing great! At least they have a fun game to call!

  • Marcus

I’m listening to the Yankees feed on Gameday Audio right now. You ought to hear these guys. They’re like, “Yeah, this is exactly what the Yankees wanted from Wang today.” Really? 4.2, 5 runs, 7 hits, a walk and a wild pitch?

  • scooper

    @rodney: “Crush”, not “Crash”

  • The Beer Guy

Guess Girardi didn’t want to leave his Wang hanging out there…

  • Doug Fu

For those watching, how far was Nellie’s HR? Judging by the Gamecast on ESPN.com, it looked like a blast.

  • Clint

Come on CD, another 2 RBI double would be nice

  • becca

the yankees probably let their wang around too many balls to be effective

  • The Beer Guy

@Marcus: The times I have listened to the YES announcers, it’s amazing. They have the most incredible talent of spinning things…being pro-home team is expected, but those guys are beyond delusional.

  • The Beer Guy

Nellie’s dad looks like James Earl Jones.

  • Ehren

D@mn you MLB for games during work hours!!! @Evan: I’m ready for my Burn Notice!!!

  • scooper

@dougfu: I haven’t caught it if they gave a distance, but it was pretty far up in the stands – a no doubt about it HR.

  • Ehren

    @becca: that’s an image i didn’t need.

  • Clint

2 singles to the 8-9 guys, not the way to start off an inning.

  • The Beer Guy

Looked like it landed in the middle of the bullpen, but it might have fallen back there, I’m not sure.

  • becca

i got in the spirit of the wang jokes. sorry.

  • Phil

Dangit, why do Rangers pitchers still melt down when spotted a nice lead.

I’m starting to think that McCarthy has gone to the same mental toughness school as CJ.

Trust your stuff and your much improved defense.

  • Marcus

The Yankees announcers said that the homerun landed behind the bullpen, in the bleachers.

  • Marcus

@ The Beer Guy: These are actually the radio announcers, one guy and a girl. They had a 3rd wheel stop in for an inning or so.

  • Phil

    Oh no.

To make matters worse, Mr Jennings, aka Mr. Can’t Keep Inherited Runners from scoring, is warming up.

    I smell a complete meltdown.

McCARTHY IS AS MENTALLY WEAK AS CJ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jacklo

    Dang it!

  • Phil

A bases-loaded walk is so freaking weak.

    McCarthy sucks!

  • Ehren

I just realized that the HBP game might be getting retired or waived!! (however you want to look at it) :)

  • scooper

I hate seeing that smile on Tex’s face.

  • becca

    i hate tex

  • The Beer Guy

Close pitches, Phil. A tight strike zone doesn’t help.

  • Phil

Nice glove work by Young as well.

Trust me, Jennings will wipe ‘em clean as we’ll be down.

All after having a four run lead.

    I hate pansy pitchers.

I’d rather a guy go out and throw heat and get beat than have a guy get spotted a lead and walk, walk, nibble, etc.

  • Phil

    As predicted.

Seriously, does Jennings do anything that a reliever is supposed to do?

I’d love to know what percentage of inherited runners score off of Jennings.

Please show him and Benson the door. PLEASE.

  • Clint

My goodness, still nobody out. This is about to get real ugly.

  • idiotbox

Please don’t let this get too out of hand right now. Need a big juicy double play right now, desperately.

Evan, I emailed you about my “appeal,” let me know if you didn’t get my email.

  • The Beer Guy

@Phil: You predicted he would both suck and mow them down. That’s a prediction you can’t lose! ;)

  • idiotbox

That was nice and juicy. Pow.

  • scooper

@phil: where have you been hiding? you only seem to come out for a visit when bad things happen.

  • becca

double plays seem to make everything better, though.

  • Phil

    @beer guy: LOL.

I meant that he would give up the lead. He never keeps guys from scoring.

Local guy or not, Jennings is terrible, and I’ve never understood JD’s love affair with him (see: Galaraga).

  • Doug Fu

Need the offense to step up and pull us through.

  • Phil

@scooper: It’s a character flaw of mine…I only vent went things are going bad.

When things are good, I usually just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s just my way of dealing with my frustrations.

  • Phil

That said, good to see Davis breaking out (fingers crossed), and Cruz still jacking them out of the park.

  • becca

@phil: maybe eddie guardado needs to give you a hug.

  • The Beer Guy

@Phil: Yeah I’m not sold on him either. He’s been better ERA-wise, but I can’t find any stats on % of inherited runners scored for him. Anyway, vent away, let it out!

  • jacklo

    Woo-hoo!!!! Go Ian!!!!

  • scooper

keep in mind, guys, that Jennings has never claimed to be a reliever.
    Way to go, Kins!

  • Michael in LH

    There we go!

  • becca

    tie game!

  • Phil

    Kinsler!

    (See, I can change. LOL)

  • The Beer Guy

that pitch to andrus was same as many that mccarthy was throwing. Inconsistent ump..

    Yay Kinsler!!

  • scooper

this is the way to come back! we can’t be intimidated by those guys! also, i would much rather see Tex frowning.

  • scooper

    @phil: good for you!
@becca: phil doesn’t seem to want an eddie hug.

  • Michael in LH

@Phil & @BeerGuy – Evan says that Jennings has allowed 50% of inherited runners to score this year. (Sometimes scrolling to the top of the page is a pain.:) )

  • AJM

People who are getting to watch the game…should Michael Young have made a play on the bases loaded double?

  • Phil

On getting an Eddie hug: Uhh, no.

  • James

Not a fan of Blalock in the 3 spot.

  • becca

    fine.

  • Phil

@Michael in LH: I first asked about it at 1:42, and Evan answered at 1:48, so I win.

    LOL, just kidding.

@ Evan: Thanks for finding the stat!

  • The Beer Guy

@Michael: D’oh! Thanks, I always forget that Evan posts updates way up there hehe – 50%? Yikes, that’s no good. I did find the leaderboard on that stat…#1 is that dude from Oakland, Wuertz at 6.7%. O’Day is #13 at 22.2%

  • Phil

@AJM: It was to his left, but I think he could’ve (or should’ve) made the play.

  • scooper

I don’t necessarily think so: it was a shot, on the line, with a lot of spin. It would have been great if he had made the play, but I don’t think you can EXPECT that play to be made.

  • Phil

Oops, I meant to his right.

  • James

And I believe Wuertz was picked up for a couple of low level prospects.

  • scooper

bullpen arms are notoriously unpredictable (among others, see Carlos Almanzar).

  • scott

yeah… check out Putz @ the Mets. got demoted from 8th inn. role

  • scott

why not pinch hit a jones for murph righ here

  • Evan Grant

@AJM: I go 50-50 on Young being able to make the play. I do think, however, he could have done a better job stopping the ball. I think to do that though, you have to be content to allow a single and not get an out. If you try to make the play, the risk you run is the ball getting by for a double while you try to field it in position to make a throw.

  • Evan Grant

@Scott: Had same thought when they announced Coke. Only thing I can think of is that Washington doesn’t want to risk putting Jones in outfield for three innings. Not sure that’s it.

  • scooper

they could have let andruw hit and put boggs in the OF.

  • scott

    exactly scooper

  • Clint

I disagree, I like leaving Murph in to hit in that spot. We’ve got at least 2 more innings to go, with other pinch-hit opportunities coming in the 8th. I’d have been more inclined if somebody was on base, but with nobody on, I liked the way Wash played it.

  • The Beer Guy

I don’t mean this in an insulting way, but how long will the Yankees continue the God Bless America 7th inning stretch bit? Maybe it’s become permanent there?

  • scooper

    @clint: good point!

  • James

They sing God Bless America all across MLB in the 7th now.

  • scooper

@beerguy: it has become permanent there and, considering the “twin towers”, I think we can cut NY some slack.

  • scott

clint, better chance of jones giving you a one run lead. then turning it over to oday, cj, and frankie for a chance to win..

  • scooper

@james: in most of the parks, it is only on Sunday, now.

  • Dylan

@James – They sing it across the league on Sundays.

  • scooper

    Yeah! Make Tex frown!

  • Clint

    Thank you, Tex!

  • The Beer Guy

    Who’s grinning now Tex??

  • The Beer Guy

@scooper: absolutely, i just asked because it started in response to 9/11 but i notice the announcer there mentions “men and women serving at home and abroad”, which implies that it’s a much broader tribute now and more likely to be permanent

  • James

I think the lesson to be learned here is to not bring in Jennings in the middle of an inning with runners on.

  • The Beer Guy

@James: Agreed, maybe he should be limited to a “fresh start” only. He’s done well since letting that inherited runner score…

  • scooper

    @james: good point!

  • JustSaying

maybe if davis would shave that stupid cj facial hair he might have a chance to hit something……

  • scooper

@justsaying: it hasn’t hurt him today.

  • The Beer Guy

@JustSaying: Care to explain how that would work?

  • idiotbox

    hate the leadoff walk

  • becca

um, after last night, we’re all ok with ceej coming in, right? right???

  • becca

    i’m trying to convince myself

  • Phil

    Typical Yanks/Rangers game.

Guess CJ’s last game was the exception to the rule.

  • becca

i guess i’m not ready yet.

  • scooper

that fan leaned over the fence.

  • Ranger Fan Willis

ah, the egnima that is cj wilson….

  • JustSaying

see now he’s gone and jinx’d cj

  • Patrick A.

As I was thinking “Why CJ? Why not O’Day?”, CJ gives up home run to Cabrera. Not cool.

  • The Beer Guy

    Ugh.

  • Ranger Fan Willis

Watching on Gamecast, Rivera warmed up?

  • Clint

Has to be CJ there, either him or Eddie. Cano and Matsui leading off, both lefties.

At least we’ve got 1-2-3 coming up in the 9th, let’s work some magic against Rivera.

  • scooper

am I the only one who thought the fan caught the ball over the playing field and that Murph would have had a chance to catch it? Fan interference?

  • The Beer Guy

@scooper: I couldn’t tell, lost sight of the ball.

  • Phil

The slightest thing (walk, error, bloop single, loud music, a burp, popcorn vendor, clouds, PA guy, etc) seems to throw CJ off his game, which is why he makes me crazy.

And, I sense the same thing in McCarthy, as evident by his many meltdown innings.

  • Patrick A.

Rivera is not quite as invincible these days, but he knows not to walk anyone (wincing).

  • Dave S

    Congrats CJ…you still SUCK!

  • scooper

by the way: CJ drama. leadoff walk came back to bite him. after last night, I was beginning to trust him again; now, no way!

@beerguy: that’s what i thought at first, too. we lost sight of it because that fan caught it.

  • Clint

@scooper: i’m 100% with you, my view on ESPN gamecast sure made it look like fan interference

  • idiotbox

    @scooper
I just played the homer in slow motion, and while I think it would have been possible for Murphy to catch that ball (he made a great effort), I don’t think the fan reached over the fence. That ball would have been a homer without the fan there, and thus the fan had a right to try to catch it. Maybe he kept Murphy from catching it, but I don’t think that qualifies as interference.

  • scooper

blalock can make a believer of me right now!

  • Phil

That BS first strike call forced Blalock to swing at the second one.

  • The Beer Guy

Great hit by MY, c’mon Hank!!

  • scooper

@idiotbox: the way i see it (even in slow motion), the fan reached over the fence, ergo over the playing field. it doesn’t matter if the ball WOULD HAVE gone over the fence. If a fan touches the ball in fair territory (over the playing field), it is fan interference.

  • scooper

    Can Cruz do it again?

  • Evan Grant

@all: Saw no real fan interference on the homer. And believe me, if Ron Washington thought he had an argument, he’d have been out there.

  • scooper

@evan: OK. I guess we’ll have to go with that.

  • scooper

    Murph’s turn!

  • Clint

    Where’s Andruw?

  • Marcus

    Well crap.

  • Phil

Yanks-phobia and CJ’s lack of mental toughness strikes again!

At least Davis showed some signs of life.

  • The Beer Guy

Tough for Cruz first time ever facing Rivera. But jeez…Murphy just hacking at it. Sigh.

  • becca

back to cj induced indigestion. feels more comfortable that way. like, that’s the way it should be.

  • Ranger Fan Willis

Ya, I would of prefered Andruw over Murphy in that spot.

  • The Beer Guy

Probably would have hit for Murphy, but that’s just me I guess. He looked clueless.

  • RealDeal2009

Patience at the plate..a taste of the new NY wind tunnel would have been nice..

  • Patrick A.

Needed better starting pitching. Rangers bullpen vs. Yankees bullpen starting in the 5th inning = Yanks will usually win.

  • CJsAgent

Ok after today I’ll reduce one of the sweeteners I wanted but we still need a nice raise……$1.6 mil is a bargain…….

  • CJsAgent

    @scooperbeerguy the extra hair is a distraction…..he has to stop and stroke it…..pull it…..wipe it clean……part it……stroke it in a pensive movement…..
    A DISTRACTION…..
just trim it up and focus on baseball……
