Evan, I know you’re not serious when you say Marlon Byrd is swinging for a contract! There’s not a player on this team who goes all out EVERY game like Marlon. He’s swinging for hits and that’s what will get him his contract next year.

Why with the the world’s greatets hitting instructor is everyone looking to the minor league instructional program to improve hitting?

But then again why did Cruz have to keep going down to re-learn hitting?

Gill LeB. has a piece up making my same point. If this continues, you get Borbon and Ramirez up here in place of Byrd and Blalock’s ABs. You go with the young guys that will be here. I think Byrd will still be a valuable piece to this thing this year, but he needs to re-boot.

Its amazing the steam that this Nick Johnson idea is getting. I threw that out 4 weeks ago, based on a quick look at the rosters/contracts of the bad teams at the times. Its sticking like glue now. It makes so much sense, that I fear the Nats are going to be stupid in what they ask for back.

Nolan just didn’t look like a guy in the middle of a $450 million deal……..but it was pretty funny seeing him and the beautiful blond in giants/bank of america caps…….my wife swears she was rooting for the giants……..good sportsmanship…..

i winced when they picked up the $6 mil on blalock…so little in return for that $ $$ ..the bullpen needed that cash….

just saying – agree, though that’s not an indictment of the system or management. in the last 14 months, you’ve seen Salty, teagarder, davis, andrus, boggs (frustrating they won’t play him) pulled up. Outfield was week, which is why they traded for josh. Murphy also was just a rookie last year.

Again, Borbon is close and he definitely isn’t BEHIND schedule. Max would probably be up if not for the abbreviated spring and then the injury. Arias and/or duran would be up, but they brought in vizquel.

smoak should NOT be up this year, but they may have to (though I think they resist that tempation and either ride out Blalock or trade for a rental (please Nick Johnson).

what seems WACK right now is that the Rangers don’t have any hitters in the system ready to be called up…….in the best minor league system in baseball and no one is ready…..timing sucks right now…….
