@scooper: If you are still reading, you have an answer, though, somewhat convoluted, in a new blog post. Bottom line: Time was never called and a new ball was never put into play.

@AB: I didn’t see your comment, but I think you may be on to something there, though, having watched Byrd compete, if he’s swinging with less discipline than in the past, it’s not something he is consciously trying to do.

I thought bats had typically been made out of Ash and that the Maple bats were the ones that had been investigated.
