@scooper, everyone. All good points on Rudy. I admit that I don't have the answer. I don't think I'm advocating replacing him. Again, I attribute this mostly to 1: 3-4 really young guys in the lineup, 2: josh being out and everybody pressing (and trying to lift the young guys), 3: evan's point about FAs to be swinging for the fences and 4: jones having no business on this team.

I don't think Rudy should fry for that, just don't think Wash should either. I do think they need to address what appears, at least to me, to be a disconnect in the plate approach that is being stressed to these guys.

I am beginning to think Ian may not be cut in the mold of a leadoff guy. Mostly I just want to sit back and watch this season "simmer" and not make any judgments on coaches or young players (other than that Hank and Jones are wasting my time being in the lineup).

I want to see as much as possible of Holland, Hunter, Harrison. I want to see young guys. I don't want to make a rash trade (as i think it was auditer said best), though I'm not convinced this thing doesn't need an impact corner bat to make a run for NEXT year. We'll have a better opinion after seeing josh back and how he performs (and how that allows cruz to perform). Bottom line - i just want to watch and learn the rest of the way. Finally, would LOVE to see Martin Perez jump to Frisco (akin to what feliz did last year going from clinton).

Night. Enjoy talking bb with you boys.

I don't get the whole bandwagon bailout either. Except for the fact that the two are one in the same. I'm guessing it's largely Cowboy frontrunners, who are also Mavs and Stars frontrunners. I'm as frustrated as the next life long Ranger fan, and I even wished failure on them over the 01-06 seasons, but toward a brighter future. This years troubles pale in comparison to past debocles (read: John Hart era). We ALL would have taken this position in December and been stoked to be in contention this late in the game - and a good year ahead of plans. I don't get why our "fans" are so anxious to bail on this team, but I'm surrounded by them.

My point about Rudy and 'roids was simply, if he was complicit then blame him. If he wasn't complicit, then he can't be blamed because his hitters took 'roids. I think we've figured out that A LOT of players used 'roids - not just Rudy's guys. And guys like Jerry Hairston and Gary Matthews Jr. - their careers were going nowhere and they were desperate. They were probably at the point where they would do ANYTHING to keep their careers going. Again, that has nothing to do with Rudy.
@JackDaddy: I know what you are saying about scoring lots of runs in a blowout loss, but what about all of those 10-8 wins we got? The other teams weren't throwing their scrubs at us in those games - they were trying to win.

I think scooper is winning this discussion about Rudy, although there is a whif of roids. There are too many guys and too much success to give roids most of the credit. Also, he clearly would be snapped up in a second by a contender if we let him go.

Listening to Diamond Talk (which I told myself I would stop doing because I think they offer very little) and they keep calling Jones a potent bat and a guy who's swinging the bat well. Is he? I thought he had the lowest average on the team or something close. Why in the world would you want to see Jones in there??

Here is a chicken/egg question. If Texas had allowed 10 runs tonight, would they have only scored 2? I'm guessing that Soscia would have probably gone looking to the back of his bullpen to find the worst pitcher he could to eat up innings. So let's say that they scored 2 or 3 more runs. Wow, what a great offensive team, if only they had some pitching! Does that hold water?
