Late Night Nuggets: Rangers Return To First; Boggs Suffers Dislocated Shoulder

Miracle of miracles, the birds of Baltimore outlasted the Angels on Friday, 6-4. It puts the Rangers and Angels in a tie for first in the West two games shy of the season’s mid-point.

Bad news for OF Brandon Boggs, who apparently dislocated his left shoulder making a routine catch for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday night. According to the email I received, he reached up for the ball, caught it and then crumpled to the ground. Assistant GM Thad Levine confirmed the diagnosis as a dislocation, but the Rangers won’t know the severity until Boggs is re-evaluated Saturday.

Happy Fourth of July!

If so, that is one of the stranger injuries to beset the Rangers. Talk about too many outfielders and zap. First Hamilton and now this….

Clearly organizational depth is critical to any MLB team’s success. the season is very long and injuries are always have to be factored in.

This is why I oppose trading minor league (especially AAA) talent for rental players after the All Star break.

Never know when who and when the team is going to need to fill a gap.

Even the Rangers with one of the best minor league organizations have just had to “grin and bear it” through Davis’s strikeout streak.
