Our friends at Pappas Restaurants are hosting a special dinner to benefit Cowboys scouting assistant Rich Behm, who was paralyzed from the waist down during that freak May storm that toppled the practice bubble in Valley Ranch. We’re posting this press release because it brings together three things we love: Pappas Restaurants, a good cause and STEAK!
Pappas Bros. Steakhouse proudly hosts a charity dinner in honor of Rich Behm on July 19, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. (the restaurant is closed to general public that evening). Behm, a Dallas Cowboys scouting assistant, was seriously injured when the team’s practice facility tragically collapsed during a severe thunderstorm in May. His injury – a catastrophic fracture to the Thoracic spine – resulted in permanent paralysis from the waist down.
Joe Avezanno, former Dallas Cowboy Special Teams Coach, is scheduled to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Sponsors partnering with Pappas Bros. Steakhouse are Ben E. Keith, Blue Stream Services, Caymus Winery, Ivey Photography, Ducky Bob’s, A Floral Experience, Lite Dallas, Lone Star Valet, Pea Pod Productions, Premier Special Events, Shag Carpet Themed Productions, Terry Drake of Drake Athletics and Three Sixty Events.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the benefit will kick off with cocktails and a silent auction in a tent outside of Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Guests will move indoors for dinner, and dining with celebrity athletes as table hosts.
“This event is an opportunity for us to help the Behm family in a very real way, and it is my honor to host such an event, ” says Rick Turner, General Manager of Pappas Bros. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Rich Behm Family Trust Fund – a fund established in response to the overwhelming outpouring of generosity from Dallas Cowboys friends and fans wishing to assist the family in their time of need. Funds donated to the Rich Behm Trust Fund are available to the family in order to meet their immediate and long-term needs. A husband and father of three young children, Behm spent more than a month in rehabilitation at Baylor Hospital in Dallas before returning home.
Tickets for the July 19 fundraiser are now available and can be purchased at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for $500 per person. Attire for the evening will be Texas Chic. Reservations are required, as seating is limited. Call 214.366.2000 for reservations. Table purchases available as well as individual tickets.
Should you choose to make a donation and not attend the event, donations are being accepted at any Bank of American or to the Rich Behm Family Trust , c/o Shelby Kirksey, 5500 Preston Road, Suite B, Dallas, Texas 75205.
