The Most Interesting Men In The (Dallas Sports) World – At Least For Thie Week, Anyway

spieth210. Jordan Spieth: Big weekend for the rising Jesuit Junior golfer. Won U.S. Junior Amateur Championships on Saturday. Then his parents got a new driver. Spieth turned 16 Sunday.

9. Tommy Hunter: Big Rangers starter beat Josh Beckett on Tuesday. Has pretty much assured himself a spot in the Rangers rotation for the foreseeable future. Not bad for a guy who had a 16.36 mark in three starts last year.

50370898. Hilario: He’s more than just a funny name. Chelsea goalkeeper pitched shutout in Arlington on Sunday against Club America on Sunday. He’d be higher if shutouts in Arlington weren’t so routine these days. Rangers already have three.

7. Jerry Jones: He did absolutely nothing last week, but training camp starts today and we can assure you this is the last time he’ll be this low on the list in 2009.

6. Drew Gooden: Not sure if the bigger news is what he’ll do for the Mavericks or that he’s apparently the first pro athlete to have  announced his signing via Twitter.

5. Dustin Nippert: Spot start win for flu-ridden Vicente Padilla on Wednesday; long-relief win for Kevin Millwood (he of the strained butt cheek) on Sunday. Who needs Halladay when you can Nippert them in the bud?

4. Mark Cuban: If the team was as good defensively as he is in court cases, they’d be something special. After beating insider-trading case, he’s now tackling Ross Perot Jr. with the patented “nickels in the sofa cushions” strategy.

3. C.J. Wilson: Pitches on three consecutive nights to start Rangers’ week. Since the first of May, he’s been the best reliever for the AL’s best bullpen. Pitching in different roles on different nights.

holley2. Jesse Holley: Wins Michael Irvin’s game show, gets 80th spot on Cowboys training camp roster. Michael Irvin has better shot at making the Cowboys.

daniels1. Jon Daniels: In the most challenging spot in town right now. He’s trying to improve a good Rangers team for the pennant race, but has no funds available to add payroll.
