A big night for 2009 second rounder Tommy Mendonca.

Triple-A: @ Sacramento 7, Oklahoma City 1

The River Cats got to Lizard f(7-9; 4.59) or seven runs on nine hits in four innings. LF Brandon Boggs (.285 / .406 / .418) doubled and walked in a 1-for-3 outing while both 1B Justin Smoak (.221 / .318 / .345) and DH Chris Davis (.303 / .366 / .514) recorded a single in four trips.

Double-A: Frisco 8 @ Midland 7

The RoughRiders rallied to overcome a poor start by RHP Omar Poveda (3.79 ERA), who lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks.

1B Chad Tracy (.262 / .314 / .455) remained virtually unconscious, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. His ninth-inning RBI sac fly proved to be the difference.

Advanced-A: @ Modesto 9, Bakersfield 8

RHP Kennil Gomez (6.12 ERA) surrendered five runs on eight hits and a pair of walks through the first five, punching out six and the Blaze lineup couldn’t quite counter, in spite of a four-run seventh that included a two-run homer from DH Mauro Gomez (.276 / .329 / .507), who finished up 3-for-4 with a walk, driving in three altogether.

2B Matt Lawson (.290 / .342 / .411) doubled twice in four trips to drive in one and CF David Paisano (.326 / .370 / .419) recorded his fifth multi-hit performance in the last ten games, going 3-for-5 from the top of the order.

Class-A: @ Greensboro 5, Hickory 2

RHP Joe Wieland (3-3; 4.67) was saddled with the loss in spite of delivering a quality start, limiting Greensboro to three runs on nine hits and a walk, managing just one strikeout in six innnings.

A two-run double from 1B Erik Morrison (.307 / .384 / .592), who finished 1-for-3, accounted for all of the Crawdads runs. SS Leury Garcia (.238 / .296 / .280) singled, walked and scored in four trips.

Short Season-A: Spokane 6 @ Salem-Keizer 2

The Rangers 2009 second rounder, 3B Tommy Mendonca (.305 / .341 / .568), went deep three times in four trips — all solo shots — and CF Miguel Velazquez (.296 / .353 / .528) belted a two-run shot for his only hit in four trips to extend a 15-game hitting streak.

RHP Trevor Hurley (2-2; 4.30) fired off six shutout innings, allowing five hits and a walk, to record the win.

Rookie: @ Giants 3, Rangers 2
