My Weekly Cowboys Schedule:

With no more vacation time until Christmas (I promise), you can count on me to beat you down with my daily NFL/Cowboys -intensive thoughts for the long haul now.  Given that students everywhere are pondering their new schedules, let’s look at our own schedule here:

Since some of you have asked – and more importantly, since we have never done a football season here at Inside Corner – Here is what we have planned for the NFL weeks once the regular season joins us in just 2 weeks!

Mondays: Post Game Notes from the Cowboys game as we have been doing for years - by the way, kudos to Eric Celeste for filling in last week.  I think that he should feel more than welcome to add his thoughts to mine anytime he pleases.  Anything to enhance the football content around here is good.

Tuesdays: A breakdown of the offense in a very nerdy sort of way.  If you followed these breakdowns last season you know that is it my goal to come up with theories about how and why the Cowboys attack with the ball. If we understand what they like to do in certain situations – and what they don’t like to do – then we are more informed than the drunk guy who wants to know why they don’t pass more on 3rd and 2. At least, we think we are. In fact, in the days to come, I will try to give you a synopsis of what we learned in 2008 about Jason Garrett. I will admit right now that Tuesdays are not for everyone.

Wednesdays: Wildcard. Chat? Column? Email? Not sure. It may change every week.

Thursdays: Breaking down the opponent. Making sure you know everything you need to know about the opponent by using their newspapers and their websites. We need to analyze this enemy. It starts with watching their last 3 games so we are ready for them, and then reading everything so there are no surprises when they get here.

Fridays: Game Preview time. We have all of the information, now we need to ponder the match-ups and situations that will decide the winner and loser. This is where we all get together and work it out.

So, there you have it. My plans for the season. Will there be the occasional bonus postings for other things (college football, hockey, and Ask Sports Me)? Sure! But, this is the template for the Cowboys season.

And, of course, get the new posts sent to you via my twitter feed if you so choose: www.twitter.com/bobanddan

Sports Sturm, you are such a nerd. And for that, I salute you sir. It’s time to talk Cowboys, buddy

    Welcome back, SportsSturm -

Two losses and you’re already giving up on the Scousers season? It usually takes your lot until November to be out of the title mix… Please don’t give up yet. There aren’t any high profile (if you consider yourself high-profile) Chelsea or Arsenal supporters to harass.

In all seriousiness, I would really hope you mix in your take on the Rangers, however, with ths being a Ranger-heavy board as it is, I will understand if you choose not to.

    F-Liverpool.

I certainly did not give up the season. But, good gosh. My first Liverpool experience in HD resulted in that?

and aston villa is mediocre at best

  • WalkereD

I know this is not really about my reds, but f Tom hicks for screwing up my baseball, hockey& football team.

By the way, Bob, can we safely remove your other blog’s feed? You’re just blogging here, right?

  • Sports jesus

And united dropped 3 pts to who? Burnley? We’ll right the ship holmes. But I agree with another poster, eff tommy hicks…

Move Cowboys to 2nd page please we are in pennant race

If Tuesdays will bring the type of analysis Al Breer used to before he left (for the Sporting News?), then I’ll be happy.

I want to know read progressions for the receiver/QB, and the reasons for them. Back before Red shut him up, Romo used to talk about keying the LB/SS relationships (the dreaded double-read that most QB’s can’t do and most coaches discourage) to see if Witten’s seam route would be open before going to the WR progression.

    Bring THAT stuff on!

Bob… if it was cool for like-minded sports freaks to make out, i’d totally hit on you right now. But instead i’ll simply enjoy your blog. Bring on Tuesdays!

Oh, Aston Villa’s not bad/mediocre. They don’t have the payroll of the big teams. I think of them like the Portland Trailblazers or the OKC ZombieSonics in the NBA or like the Oklahoma State Cowboys in NCAA Football this year. Nice teams, but there’s almost no way they actually win the major trophies.

DallasManU fan, what do you think of Arsenal this year?

  • GhettoBear04

    Hey Bob,

I’m psyched about the plans for NFL coverage! For Wednesdays, any thought to mixing in a little fantasy football talk? I suppose that could be lumped into a mailbag/chat format. Something like picks/starts for the week?

Or you could use it as just a general NFL day. Crazy individual performances, underrated players, maybe a little chat with footballoutsiders ? I think true Cowboys fans are better than most fans at knowing about the NFL in general (hi Goose!), so I think the interest would be there.

  • DallasManUFan

I think that Arsenal looks good for beating a team that’s going to be relegated (Pompey) an astonishingly underwhelming Everton and the second place finisher of a second-rate league (Celtic).

As any of you followers know, it’s not worth getting real worked up over until after the holiday fixtures have been played out. Then, feel free to hit the panic button.

So, for now, based on a 1/10 sample size I say that they still finish Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham (I find a Harry Rednapp team with some talent a very dangerous weapon) and then City.

Bob needs a weekly Footy Blog, that’s for certain.
