5:00: The home run pool is open for Labor Day lazing, barbecuing and home run-predicting. Also, I’ll be on Fox Sports Southwest breaking down the game before and after. Rangers Live! starts at 5:30 CDT with Dana Larson as host.
6:30: Rangers will start RHP Brandon McCarthy Monday against Cleveland and move RHP Dustin Nippert back to the bullpen. This makes some sense. First, McCarthy has started exclusively for the last three years. Second, he’s much more a creature of habit than Nippert. Nippert gives the Rangers a second quality long man and will make it easier for Ron Washington to pull a starter before significant trouble develops.
6:43: Scott Feldman has thrown 30 pitches through two innings. Nice pace.
7:20: RHP Scott Feldman and C Pudge Rodriguez now have 16.2 scoreless innings together. What a cute couple!
7:42: I don’t want to brag, but I did choose Nelson Cruz as the Player to Watch on TV.
7:59: Feldman’s scoreless streak ends at 17.2 innings. He has allowed two runs in 24.2 innings in his last four road starts.
8:02: Here is the text from the MLB rule book on the equipment violation that Feldman commited. As an aside, we have looked at tape from several other Feldman starts from earlier this season and he appears to be using the same glove that was taken out of play today, we believe at the request of Baltimore manager Dave Trembley. We will be discussing Glove Gate on Rangers Live! after the game.
“1.15
(a) The pitcher’s glove may not, exclusive of piping, be white, gray, nor, in the judgment of an umpire, distracting in any manner.
(b) No pitcher shall attach to his glove any foreign material of a color different from the glove.
(c) The umpire-in-chief shall cause a glove that violates Rules 1.15(a) or 1.15(b) to be removed from the game, either on his own initiative, at the recommendation of another umpire or upon complaint of the opposing manager that the umpire-in-chief agrees has merit.”
8:07: Love this. Ron Washington complains about Baltimore’s Cla Meredith using the same glove as Feldman. So head games, Dave Trembley, what goes around comes around.
8:24: Happy Hour has started.
I luv the Irish Inner Harbor but I’m ready to see The Rangers kick some O’Arse. Like a peg legged leprechaun at an O’s kicking contest. Get the shillelagh out, Lad. It’s goin to be a clubbin’.
Hey guys! Let’s get this trip started off well!
@Evan: So, where do you guys watch the game when you’re doing studio work? Do they have like a makeshift den or something? Just curious.
@Ranger Fan: Just sitting back here in the “newsroom” with my FSN “colleagues” Dana Larson and Ric Renner.
Hmmm..Doesn’t sound too comfy!
This place seems dead so maybe I’m talking to myself but, I’m just throwin out there…Not a fan of Marlon in the 4-spot, especially since he’s struggling.
This kid is in trouble if he can’t get his breaking ball over for strikes
What’s up Jack…glad someone else is here!
@Ranger Fan: It’s Friday night of Labor Day weekend, yes, kind of quiet. Regarding Byrd: He’s not the prototypical No. 4 hitter, but is hitting .287 with a .353 OBP and .557 slugging percentage, so he’s got a .910 OPS. I’d take that from the fill-in No. 4 guy any day.
Hey guys . . .Good start for the Rangers. Am I the only one with a little bit of some choppy audio . . . And what the hell was that?
Well, Evan, you know it was part of my plan to jinx him into doing something positive…not the runner though. Kinsler can’t pull off the double steal with him I don’t think.
Hey ranger fan. I’m here. Not much a life
. No sitter this weekend so will be here for all of them. Can’t really critisize the double steal. You have to take the failures with the successes. Sux though.
Brandon – I had it on pregame. Don’t notice it now. But of course my 3.5 yr old is constant chatter and the vulume is low
Well I’ve got it on the HD channel and the standard channel as well. I don’t have it on any other channel so I was just curious.
Who needs a life…September baseball doesn’t happen much here! And true…I’m all for it with Kinsler leading, but not Byrd.
Kins doesn’t seem like he is a true leadoff hitting – borbon would be awesome if he can get his stuff together to leadoff everyday
@evan – have you seen my layout on what we need to do to make playoffs? — 22 games until the series with LAA on the 28th; need to cut lead to 2 games so that a series win ties it up with 3 games to go. That’s 15-7 fo Tex and 14-9 for LA. 1.5 games in 22. That doesn’t seem so scary.
Cutting to 1 would still require winning 3 of 4.
Just saw that McCarthy will start on Monday & Nippert is going back to the bullpen. I think that is the best move. Nippert gives the Rangers another power arm for the 6-7 innings.
If rangers win, buying the grey Feliz tonight. Putting some of the blackjack $$ to use. Unless scooter pitches a no-no. Then 39 will be looking nice.
@JD a series win or a series sweep?
@Jack Daddy: That’s still a formidable challenge. You are asking the Rangers to 18-8 heading into the final weekend at Seattle and would then presumbably need to win two of three there, too. It’s an uphill battle anyway you slice it, but the Rangers have done all they’ve needed to to put themselves in position to win a playoff spot.
@jd oh thats a four game series – my bad
Junior – series win (3 of 4). That would make up 2 games and turn a 2 game defiit into a tie.
@jd – i got ya… there are only three of them on the sept schedule. The last one is in OCT.
@Evan – no doubt, but there’s no easy way. Plus, that doesn’t ANY sweeps, just winning every series.
My thought he goal is to give yourself a decent chance. Taking 3 of 4 would e a steep challenge but not as crazy a havig to sweep up there. And going 15-7 should be very doable.
but the halos have FOUR against kc *rolls eyes*
Hate typing on this iTouch. Ready for the rumored iTouch Tablet.
Is the light glove the reason for the amazing Feldman season? We’ll soon see.
@JD – and hope the white sox, red sox and yanks take care of business
It helps that one of the angels off days will be a make up game in NY on the 14th, now they play at home on the 13th then fly to NY for 1 game and then to boston, at this time of year losing an off day is huge.
So the Orioles have a problem with the glove when the rest of baseball doesn’t? I don’t think it’s the glove baseball…
@Junior, Greinke is BACK for KC. It could be one for them. He was in a mid-season slump[ but is looking good again.
baltimore*
@Evan – does the rule about the glove color have anything to do with how the batter picks up the ball? Whats up with that rule?
wow nice pitch
Looks like the glove had no effect.
Evan- the nippert move was even more a no- brainer when you Check out his splits. I don’t remember the exact #s but I know he was excellent with men on base, better with risp and even better in late inning situations. Lefties don’t kill him an he gets way (Monday the excetion) more grounders than Brandon. It was a slam dunk when you add the reasons you list.
junior, yes, it is about picking up the ball.
You can use a light glove to help hide the ball a bit longer and also anyone on 2nd trying to see the grip would be really difficult. (not that anyone does that)
I would imagine that a very light colored glove could distract the batter and help hide the same colored ball. That said, I suspect that it was more a piece of gamesmanship by Baltimore than a Baltimore batter actually thinking he was being placed at a disadvantage.
Ok – topic of night: top 5 pitches by rangers starters:
1. Happy’s fastball
2. Scooter’s cutter
3. Hollands fastball
4. Hunter’s curve
5. McCarthy’s change
others: happy’s splitter, millwood’s slider mccarthy’s curve?
Happy’s curve, if he can command it he is almost unhittable.
@Jack Daddy: Well I think O’Day needs to be in there…and how could you forget the CJ gyro ball or his top fastball.
well if you are going to do that – lets talk about feliz
Wow we’ve just missed 2 balls now. Elvis and Nelson just missed homeruns.
I’m wondering what’s going to happen when Feliz has a bad game…it’s going to happen. He’s not going to be unhittable his entire career. Love the kid. Think his stuff is sick…but let’s calm down.
Obagain – happy’s curve is made great b/c of his fastball. On it’s on it’s not a plus pitch. Probably could sat same thing about his split finger, but there is just something awesome about a 92 mph splitter (but I don’t know that it will ever be as good as as frankie’s).
rf, we say the same thing we did when holland had a bad game, he is young and learning.
Rangers fan – I left out relievers (but included neftali – hey, my game, my rules!). Otherwise ff and cj would dominate.
Junior – feliz means happy.
Holland doesn’t have the buzz Feliz does, that’s why it’s different. To hear some people talk, he’s the second coming of Cy Young.
@Jack Daddy: ok, sounds fair. I think you’re cheating on Derek with Neftali though…
RF, young doesnt have the buzz hamilton does but who do you want at bat with the game on the line?
I’m glad Balt got a hit inthe first inning. That way I’m not tempted to anger the baseball gods by actively talking about whether he may pitch a no-no tonight. The only differnce right now between what he’s doing and what halladay did is that halladay was a prize prospect before he was sent all the wu back to A ball way back when.
Make that 3 . . .
I’m gonna be unpopular here but…if Josh is hot, I’m gonna take Hamilton. Young is the most consistent hitter..but I’m not sure if he’s Mr. Clutch. Is his avg. w/ RISP up? It was low most of the year. But really…I’ll take either one of them.
Right now, I’d have to include Feliz’s split-change (it’s a changeup with a split-finger grip, rather than a traditional splitter) among the top five. The action is downward, but not as dramatic as a splitter.
I’d also have to consider C.J. Wilson’s fastball. Quite frankly, in small doses, I think it might be better than Holland’s (sorry, Jack).
That’s 3 that we just missed. This kid is pretty lucky so far.
RF, the point is you could argue either way.
If it is holland or feliz on the mound the buzz may be different but most games the results are the same.
@obagain: I agree. I just say all the to say, let’s tap the break and not mess with a good thing (feliz the closer, etc.)
@Evan – I totally agree, but you missed my crazy rules. Only starters and Feliz (because let’s face it, he should be starting).
I he were ranking top 5 pitches, cj would have 2 or 3.
I agree on happy’s split/change ( you know my thougts on that bad boy). But which of my five would you take out? Milly’s slider?
I want feliz to start, I have made my feelings on that very obvious.
Good AB by Nellie
Only the 1999 team had more wins to this date than this team has. Remarkable when you look back at the projections in March.
I don’t have the #s in front of me, but for the past 3-5 weeks (maybe the time that hammy cam off dl), we’ve done a much job as a team at not chasing balls out of zone. great AB by Cruz.
Way to go Chippy D!
HE’s BACK!
Wow an opposite field hit by CD!!
Evening everyone. Great game so far this evening. Anyone for 32 tonight?!?!
That’s not a new thing Brandon..since he’s been back.
Two-out hits make me moist.
Again why isn’t the AAA hitting coach up here?? Seems as if he fixed CD when the all mighty Rudy couldn’t do it . . .
@Ranger Fan Yeh I know but it is still nice to see when you see it.
@Jack Daddy: Sorry, I didn’t see that rule, which by the way is a bogus rule, but according to those very particular constraints, I guess I wouldn’t be able to argue.
Davis iis NOT the same hitter that was here before. Not even close. At all. Scott coolbaugh deserves some serious kudos. I’m tellig you, don’t be surprised if he’s the coach next year. Think bout it- how many of these are really rudy guys? Young, Byrd, jones, blalock and pudge. Only young will be back next year.
@Brandon: Oh don’t get me started on that rant…
@Jack Daddy: yikes..does Rudy want Hank to be considered “his hitter”?
Former Ranger Robinson Tejeda is starting tonight for KC against the Angels. He’s still throwing heat it looks like as he’s hitting 95 against LAAA. Need some help from him tonight obviously.
I miss Josh Lewin…
@Evan – beig totally honest, forgot feliz was not a starter when started answering. I’m not a smart man!
By the way – I completely agree with Happy being in pen THIS season. Even for first month next year. But he need to be in rotation b next June (you know somebody wil get hurt next year so I’m fine having him waiting in wings, if that gives us the most flexibilty).
hopefully the white sox and royals can help us out tonight.
dang what a rocket that guy still has
Sure is nice to see Pudge back there . . .
**rocket arm
7:20: RHP Scott Feldman and C Pudge Rodriguez now have 16.2 scoreless innings together. What a cute couple!
@Jack: He can’t be streched out in season..well he can but it would waste time and not be as effective as if he was stretched in the winter…however, apparently Ryan says its no guarantee he’s a starter..I disagree with that. Frankly, you gotta see what he can do as a starter before he’s a career reliever/closer.
The problem with Rangers Fans is that they have a football mentality. Just because someone has a bad game or even a bad year, people around here automatically want to pull the trigger and get rid of them. Anyone who wants to get rid of the best hitting coach in baseball because his players have had a bad year for the first time in a long time needs to give up their baseball watching privelages and focus only on football. The way you can tell how valuable a coach is to a team is by simply putting him on the open market and seeing how long he would last there. Rudy would NOT last a single day as a free agent before other teams fired their hitting coaches to replace them with Rudy. It’s not his fault that Josh has been hampered with distractions, Kinsler always swings for the fences, Blalock is over the hill, and CD along with Salty and TT can’t make contact. Credit CD for doing the necessary changes nedded to fix his swing and doing the drills that CD himself admitted he got away from bc he got too comfortable. But for the love of the game, STOP lowering the Baseball IQ of Rangers Fans even lower by saying Rudy needs to get fired
Daniels waited two weeks too long to bring Davis back up. This is how he was swinging the bat the nights I saw OKC out in New Mexico.
@Evan just as stupid as the feldman for cy young questions were 2-3 weeks ago, it’s getting to the point now where just dismissing the notion might be equally as stupid. I can’t even believe I’m even typing this. Bu if he finishes with 6 starts where he goes 7 and gives up less than 3, he’s in the top 5 with verlander, greike, felix and Rivera (halladay and Beckett are out now).
@Texas rocks – I hear you on the knee jerking anthis may be, but managers have been fired within 2 yr of going to world series ( see Colorado ) and I think the track record has to be totoally re-examined given the fact that thi organization was evidently ground zero for PEDs. Finally, his approach doesn’t seem to mesh at all with that of this manager.
But I generally agree with your chief complaint about rangers fans and truly am trying not to fall into that. I have questioned the great Rudy j since 6 dismal losses to NYY in 98 and 99.
1. Ian Kinsler has the same swing he’s always had. You love it when he’s hot, hate it when he’s not. He doesn’t swing for the fences and for the love of baseball gods, let’s stop saying that. The guy’s about to be the 3rd 2nd basemen in major league history to have a 30-30 season! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The guy is 2nd in homeruns, leads the team in runs score and RBI, and walks. And people are all over him for his season? Sickening.
2.Rudy screwed with Josh’s swing. That started his struggles and was abandoned. Horrible idea.
3. From reading quotes he all but gave up on Davis and was out of ideas, when the adjustments didn’t seem to large.
He’s had a pretty bad year. If the team has a bad year..the manger gets fired, sometimes. The offense has not had a good year. It’s not insane to talk about the security of the hitting coach.
Nice DP.
That was a great play by Kinsler…great DP!
Hey umm Texas Rocks. The hitting coach in OKC was credited for helping CD fix his approach at the plate and to open up his stance more. If a MLB hitting coach that helps his players swing for the fences can’t figure that out then I think there is a problem. I’m not saying that Rudy needs to be fired but it should at least be noted.
Nice bb IQ play by Kins.
Oh and he (Kinsler) leads the team in steals…a category in which the team is 3rd in the league.
Who was it talking about Kinsler’s baseball IQ the other day? Hope they’re watching.
white sox 2-0 bot 2nd
@Jack: There are only three spots to vote on the ballot, so even if he Feldman is in the top five in consideration, he’d have to make into somebody’s top three to show up in the totals. Is there anybody going to put him over Greinke, Verlander and Felix. Maybe and I hope he does, but I don’t think he shows up.
Dang…I didn’t think that was goin out! Nice.
Hey – Texas rocks made some good points, particularly about the number of young jitters. Us MY know more about hittig than any of us and insists that he’s not the problem.
But Texas rocks, you hae to appreciate that immunity doesn’t last forever in baseball and that he has had a pretty poor season, given that the AAA hitting coach had to “fix” Davis an that he unsuccessfully tried to alter the swig if a near MVP candidate. Plus, he never could unlock cruz.
Either way, no need to get testy – just good baseball talk guys.
Nellie!!
Evan, if he finishes out the season strong he might get a few votes but even a little hicup and there is no way.
I’m drinking a Dr Pepper and rum. It’s not bad.
I definitely wasn’t trying to start an argument here but I just think that Rudy’s approach may not mesh with the manager of this team. CD looks completely different since he’s been back and the AAA hitting coach should be commended for that. Texas Rocks made some good points though I agree.
Ok – done on this itouch. I sound like a “ra”tard.
Giving boys a bath now. Will join back later on post game. Play nice while I’m gone.
Evan – but what if Scooter pitches 5 shutouts in a row?
.
I just ate a bluebell ice cream sandwich, I may have to go for 2.
Hey Rangerette me too!! Haha. Don Q for me what about you??
@Jack Daddy: My bad. I agree Ranger fans knee-jerk. The whole town does, no matter what sport. But I have met my limit of hearing about Kinsler…
@rangerette – that sounds horrible, but I love where your mind is. Think I’ll break out the Jack and diet.
White Sox up 2-0 over the Red Sox in the bottom of the 2nd.
@OB…..sure miss Blue Bell. It’s not carried anywhere out here, with the exception of Vanilla Bean @ Outback. I always love when I get to visit “home” in Texas and pick up some Blue Bell Chocolate Chip. So….eat a second one for me.
@Jack Daddy – It’s not bad honestly. I guess I should clarify that I’m drinking diet DP but still.
mike in reno, eating it as I type.
A DP would be nice here.
Well that’s rare from Scooter. 8 straight balls is not something we ever see from him.
@ OB….very nice. Thanks.
Is Nippert available out of the pen tomorrow/sunday I would think?
You know, I love baseball no matter what but does this game seem boring…
I like to see that.
3-0 Chicago now.
well… time for Feliz I guess.
Diet DP? No way. Don’t laugh but Mount Gay and Dublin Dr Pepper, no ice. It’s nice. A little prune, a little fuzzy, a big kick. Like the Rangers.
@Rangerette – Well said . . .
Uhh let’s not use Feliz unless we have to…
3-0 white sox bot 3
LOL @ Rangerette… I love that Dublin Dr. Pepper. Real sugar no corn syrup.
4-0 Chicago now . . . 1st and 3rd and nobody out for Chicago.
So, how long has it been since a starter gave up 1 run and we were disappointed?
@obagain – way too many years.
Dublin DP= Michael Young.
4-0 White sox bot 3, 0 outs
5-0 white sox.
@all – Ok question… with Feliz pitching out of the pen the way he is, what do you do with him next year. Start him or make him the setup man at first and then closer maybe?
Make that 5-0 bot 3 with 1 out and men on 2nd and 3rd. Paul Byrd is getting knocked around quite a bit.
I’d like that glove removed from the game please….
white sox up big could be a very good night tonight
7-0 White Sox now . . .
RF, ask and you shall receive.
well you got your with RF…
Wow looks like the Red Sox are getting shelled
its is a rout bears up by a touchdown over the partriots 7-0 actually white sox and red sox
Sweet…I’d also like to get Andrus on…and then a Kinsler double.
now if the baseaball gods can have the royals play along then its defitelt will be a good night
Dana Larson: hot or not?
8:02: Here is the text from the MLB rule book on the equipment violation that Feldman commited. As an aside, we have looked at tape from several other Feldman starts from earlier this season and he appears to be using the same glove that was taken out of play today, we believe at the request of Baltimore manager Dave Trembley. 8:07: Love this. Ron Washington complains about Baltimore’s Cla Meredith using the same glove as Feldman. So head games, Dave Trembley, what goes around comes around.
Now that’s just sick.
Ummm that’s 3 for Ian that have been taken away from him at the wall . . .
Wow.. that could have been bad.
White Sox 7-0 now, still the bot 3
I’m very much against Feliz coming in the game unless it gets closer.
Yes Dana is hot
KC just went up 1-0, 2 outs bot 4 w/runner on 3rd
Does Greinke pitch this series?
1-0 royals becoming a very good night
Dana, Hot??? TSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
KC needs to be up by at least 4 before I start thinking about gaining a game.
@Ranger Fan – Yes tomorrow night against Lackey for the Angels.
Well let’s hope for some run support for him.
@Evan – so what do you think they do with Feliz next year, start or close?
START
RR, if he closes what do you do with FF and CJ?
That is a rare error.
8:24: Happy Hour has started.
Well, that’s an interesting decision to have. Personally I think Feliz needs to start but if they do decide to use him to close… I think FF and CJ setup for him in 7th & 8th…
I’ll take a double please.
Well hopefully Feliz finishes the game…that’s the only reason I like this move.
@R_R, Feliz has to begin the year in the BP. If he started he would be out of innings by the ASB. I say in BP until the ASB and then start. You are not going to get more than 100-125 innings next year. Too Young, more might damage his arm
@Ranger Rick: For me, Feliz would remain in the bullpen. He won’t be this dominant in the bullpen for his entire career, but he might come close. As a starter, I wonder if his effectiveness will drop as his velocity goes down during the course of a game.
4 run game and we need to BURN UP feliz………c’mon wash don’t be doing that passive aggessive stuff again……….manage my man MANAGE………..
Be gone . . . 99 mph from Happy!!
Can the ballpark get a more accurate gun so Feliz hits the 99-100 mark at home…it’d be more exciting.
Just Saying – agreed. Do we need to use him right now?
@evan: so you go for him as a setup man maybe next year and possibly groom as a closer? Wouldn’t you at least try him out at some point as a starter or do you feel his Minor League experience as a starter says that he is better suited for the bullpen?
Seriously? This guy might be Pedro in his prime and you want to keep him in the bullpen… why did Sabathia break the bank this summer BC STARTING PITCHERS WIN YOU CHAMPIONSHIPS… not a damn setup man… he should get a shot at the rotation next year…
evan, if he can control 2 offspeed pitches he will be a dominate starter, even if his fastball loses a few MPH.
The only knock was his offspeed was not very good, he has shown it is developing nicely and if it continues to progress those pitches he would be a true #1.
@justsaying, come on dude look at the situation… if feldman gives up a 3 run HR you are bitching abt not going to the bull pen after 100 pitches for feldman… do you guys just love ripping wash for no apparent reason
whitesox up 8-1 now.
Texas Rocks: Thanks for the epistle on Rudy. He’s a GREAT hitting coach and has done far more for this franchise than most people realize. I’ve personally witnessed numerous sessions of Rudy working with players in the cage. One of his strengths is that he works within the framework of each player’s capabilities, which includes where the player is mentally. Ian Kinsler’s swing doesn’t change, because Ian Kinsler doesn’t want to change it, and Rudy works within that framework. He is not to blame for every offensive problem. He can only deal with the raw material John Daniels sends to him.
apparently so jcouch.. I think Wash is up for manager of the year and if the Rangers get into Oct. No doubt he get MoY
and what exactly have we won with Rudy?
Completely agree obagain…I’ll always wonder what if …if they don’t try.
9-1 white sox
rare solid contact.
Robinson Tejeda finally contributing to the Rangers… I hope he can keep it up
10-1
10-1 WS
If Rangers can stretch the lead, maybe we can put Feliz on the shelf and use him again tomorrow if it’s a tight game.
They have to try and start Feliz. He needs a chance to prove or disprove his stamina as a starter before he gets sent to the pen for the long term. Not that I don’t like the thought of him closing for us but if he can start then you have a possible 20 game winner there and that is what wins championships.
I don’t think Feliz will be pitching consecutive nights this season…unless dire straits in October?
john, That wont happen, I hope he finishes the game and CJ and FF get a rare 2 days off.
feliz is golden but in a pennant race when i enter a series i save him for a one run game where i need a strikeout……..o’day can’t handle the 6-7th in a four run game…..c’mon guys THINK
This team has always been a swing for the fences type of team since Rudy has been here. During the playoffs that just isn’t going to cut it, hence the 1-9 record in the playoffs. The Rangers playoff teams couldn’t score runs and they depended on the long ball. Juando was a prime example of that. Just take this into consideration when thinking about Rudy.
Lol that’s what I get for just watching the ESPN crawl. My comment makes no sense. Can’t see the game live.
c’mon royals uber achieve…….
12-1 WS in the 4th.
Ok, Feliz needs to finish this one out, I would prefer him over CJ
i ultimately think we’re going to be happy whether feliz starts or closes…….he’s a BEAST!
@justsayin do you have convenient amnesia… do u not remember all of the blown leads lately… in a pennant race you do all you can to win each game… who knows tomorow we could get blown out and not need feliz… you take care of NOW… and like I said runners on 1st and 3rd … a HR and this is a new ball game.
@jack i think you should do a top 5 laugher pitches…….and feliz change up has to top the list………i was giggling
I guess we are saving CJ for tomorrow…
Evan: Odds of Pudge coming back next season?
Good. If you’re burning Feliz might as well save the rest.
Agreed jcouch…. gotta play the current game and deal with tomorrow when it gets here. I’m glad Ron is letting Feliz finish this one out.
I definitely like the sound of Pudge coming back next season. TT is good, but his bat must be better and Salty is a bit of a question right now.
I don’t think Salty did anything to lose his job. I’m completely confident with Salty. TT has his moments but both offensively and defensively is behind Salty, IMO.
Pudge is a consideration depending on how Salty progresses after his surgery or sign him no matter what for the insurance. I bet he would take $1M to play here as opposed to somewhere else.
Very nice start to the road trip
althought i wouldn’t have used him in this 4 run game, i’m glad he let him finish…….feliz has to be the “no drama king”………just unbelieveable poise……what is in the minor league water these days
Nice ho hum win.
Now lets hope KC can hang on.
@jcouch this is the orioles man……
JustSaying – agreed again. The rest of the bullpen could use the breather. They should be pretty fresh for tomorrow night. Nice win tonight.
I wish ATT had MLB channel.. this sucks that I only have college football to watch after the Rangers game.
@justsayin anything can happen
hey we won…..bullpen rested ok neftali is done for the series but it’s still positive…..we can score runs with josh and my sitting…..this team is a TEAM……they really pick each other up and you NEVER underestimate that 6th tool……….
rangers have kwan……..
Ranger_Rick it is a national problem that mlb should wake up and fix……they have the audience and they just dump it like PING…….
i personally think evan should come on at the end of each game and do “rangers yoga with evan” there has to be a way to program mlb to stay with that post game show and then see what happens…….i can’t think of ANY REASON that a tv station that has an audience just DUMPS THEM like a rock when there is a further chance of revenue…….JUST SEEMS WACK!
The Angels went crazy winning games when Hunter and Guererro went on theDL on the same day. Perhaps the same lightning can strike in Arlington with Michael and Josh out. At least a good start on it tonight.
How sad…you take a look at the gamecast of the game with implications on your team…and you see Jamey Wright is pitching.
Nice games guys. I tend to side on the feliz as starter sid for all the reasons stayed above. If feliz could pith 2 or 3 days in a row consistently, te argument might be closer. But give me 6-9innings every 5 days in a start vs 5 innigs in 5 days out of pen.
But right now, he’s kicking a$$ at an epic rate.
Per my pledge, a portion of my vega winnigs are about to b plunked down on a grey feliz jersey.
Btw, that’s 3 hrs that Kins has had robbed. Plus the one earlier this year over the foul poll in Baltimore
The whole glove thing shows the respect that Scooter is now getting.
@jack i was thinking of trying to get a deal on a padilla jersey but jack you have swayed me toward a feliz jersey….i’m calling tommorrow and compare prices………
@justsayin – 20% off an authentic through Sunday and 10% off a replica. Rangers home page.
Poveada just finished a complete game.
He gave up 1 unearned run, no BB and 7 K’s.
It will be interesting to see what the rangers do with him.
personally if you guys are all right then the padilla shirt at the rangers shop should be priced at $999.95 because only an asshole who is willing to throw any good money should wear this shirt……….and the feliz should really come at a discount to flood the market and sell the team…….just my humble marketing opinion…..maybe vincente’s shirt is even higher……$12,395…….sounds better…….
fifteen and frickin four…….geez fifteen and frickin four……..i’m weak kneed….
i’m installed in the “feldman hall of shame” i so argued to put him in the bullpen at the beginning of the season “for the good of the team” and geez h christmas i was so terribly wrong and am so humbled by that miss……..”feldman hall of shame” ok i’m in it …let’s move on to the playoffs now……..
oregon running back suspended for year…….wonder if criminal charges are going to follow……nolan any input here?
justsaying, there are a bunch of us in the hall of shame.
Scooter is the man! He’s been a great surprise.
As a starting pitcher, Scooter has given the Rangers the ability to win just about every game he pitches. I didn’t really appreciate his “stuff” until July. He’s got great stuff and with location on his fastball, he’s tough! This is a good example of a guy who has learned to pitch in the big leagues.
I like Millwood, but I do think Feldman has better “stuff”.
KC is killing me.
In a 1-0 game they have twice walked the bases loaded.
Well vlad made them pay with a 2 run single.
And the next guy walks to load the bases again.
That is 8 walks so far for the angels.
vlad the impaler – ranger killer even when playing the royals. DP by Kendry morales though.
KC has 6 outs to play with…
Hopefully the Rangers can put together a win streak here and gain some more on either Angels or Sox. If nothing else they have to keep up with them. Either way good, solid game tonight and great pitching by both Feldman and Feliz.
feldman ties most wins for a ranger pitcher on the road (11) with helling (98) and pitcher with no name (08)……..pretty amazing in a multitude of ways…..
Moves by Angels to improve – get Kazmir. Not bad.
Moves by Red Sox to improve – get Martinez, get Wagner. Not bad at all.
Moves by Rangers – get Pudge, call up Feliz, Davis, and Borbon.
I may have missed a move or two.
I think the Rangers did all right by my scorecard. I’ll add that I think the Sept 1st callups and injury returnees have a real chance to contribute (McCarthy already has).
at least the red sox lost so we pick up a game in the WC.
jamey wright just keeps punishing us…….
2 outs in the 9th. LAA up 2-1.
john you make very insightful observations……that may have been the plan all along and i’m with that……if you’re sitting on aces why do you need to draw?
I miss Charity Beaver
i vote for charity beaver every day……..and i pray for charity beaver every day just like in animal house……
I pray for all the Beavers.
21 games until 9/28 4 game show-down with LAA.
Need to shave 1.5 off the current 3.5 deficit.
Need the following finishes to get there (or any combination of us outplaying them by 1.5 games):
Tex 14-7
LAA 13-9
KC screwed us tonight. stupid vlad the impaler
I hear ya JustSaying… same here.
doesn’t matter angels……we’re not going away so get used to it………
@evan i’m starting early on my christmas list and i’m torn between a set of workouts with charity beaver or a padilla jersey……..what size do you wear?
Just incase anyone looks, the Padilla jersey is on clearance at the Ballpark. Not that I would ever want one.
bad pricing……they need to increase the price…..collector’s items…….
‘Just incase anyone looks, the Padilla jersey is on clearance at the Ballpark. Not that I would ever want one.’
Not so fast speed racer. I may need one of those jerseys the next time my nine year old crowds the plate in BP and needs a little chin music…
