Josh Hamilton Goes to California to See Specialist

Rangers OF Josh Hamilton will not be in the lineup tonight against Seattle and the rest of the weekend seems up in the air, too. Hamilton flew to Los Angeles on Thursday to see Dr. Robert Watkins to get a second opinion about the pinched nerve in his back. Assistant GM Thad Levine said Hamilton is scheduled to return to Dallas on Saturday. The Rangers will update with information as they receive it. Hamilton hasn’t played since leaving a game against Toronto on Sept. 2.

    Hmm…I really don’t like this trend. I never wanted to believe that Josh’s body would break down because of past indiscretions, but now I’m wondering whether that might not be happening…

    My dad, is a former addict of the highest order, talks a lot about how broken down his body has become because of that. He’s much older than Josh, but the principle is the same.
    I LOVE watching Hamilton play, but I think the arbitration route and waiting it out is a great way to go. If he breaks down, make sure he’s not still on the payroll in 2015.

    You would have to question his value at this point and with this much problem. How long can one be away and still be dropped back in the lineup and expect top performance? The next ten days decides this season’s finish.

    Josh led the team last year with 155 games played. This year it’s been one thing after the other, mainly due to collisons with outfield walls. Hopefully he will be back to 100% by spring training. If he gets back this year it will be a bonus.

    i am glad to see that josh is coming to california for treatment……we’ve always been ahead of the power curve with drugs (legal) to treat what ails you……..

    and when you think about it he sure hasn’t been hurt more than blalock and it is blalock who has the $6 million salary……so at the price we are paying he is still a bargain……….but with all the injuries this year you would have to believe that it will be at least the all star break before any new contract is considered…..he’ll just have to learn to live on 500k and any book and doggie show royalties (unless those have dried up)

    Sounds like Josh has a ruptured disk, which is most likely pressing against nerve roots. Josh is probably done for the season.
