So Evan, how does the team get their energy back on offense? Any new changes to the line-up coming?

Also, where there's smoke there's a fire. Is there some kind of Padilla-esque back story (off the field issue, bad guy in the room, attitude) going on with Hank Blalock that is not being shared with the fans?

He's been unnecessarily buried by the team and now they need somebody like the player Blalock was last September or in April, May or July of this year.

It's so easy to look back and second guess the Padilla thing, but hey it is what it is. This team does have the look of a tired team. You cannot discount the effect that the losses of MY and JH have had on the psyche of the team. I think this team is a lot better off without Padilla if he was as much of a cancer as has been reported.

Also, although it is almost romantic to wax about what the team might have done and who it might have picked up, I actually like the fact that we did not disrupt the chemistry by bringing in a "contract" that might or might not pan out long term. This is an exciting group of players who will only get better. This year has been a great ride.

But the Rangers are doing it with a bunch of kids who've never played this much in the majors. In this area. I think they're to be commended and it definitely is a great thing to think we'll be a little bit older next year. As long as no one seriously does damage to their arm in this last month, I'm all for riding this puppy out.

Don't give up yet. The Sox and Angels aren't that good. Believe me, stranger things have happened; I lived in St. Louis in '64.

I do not blame the Rangers for not getting Kazmir. Not with what he was doing this year, his contract, and the arms we have in our system.

I too am finding it hard to be positive. I do not see us catching Boston, but still feel LA is possible. Just because of the games left. Boston has the likes of KC, Cleve, Balt, and Toronto. Not exactly giant killers.

True we have Oakland and Seattle, but Seattle does not fall in the same catagory of KC, CLeve or Balt.

I would say this is a tired team in a lot of ways: Long Season, Bad weather and general aches and pains, MY and Ham gone. I just say thanks for a good, entertaining season and if it goes on, fine, but what we have seen has been great.

This was pretty disheartening. I'm sticking it out for the rest of the season, but it's hard to keep the positivity in my own brain.

Not saying I don't believe in this team anymore, but I'm starting to wonder if we've seen their best effort already.

I know he had to be gone, but how much did dropping Padilla AND NOT REPLACING HIM WITH ANYTHING hurt this club? He ate innings and could have good stuff. . . better than what we've seen from most of the starters in the last few weeks.

We subtract from the rotation (which is a clubhouse "add") and add nothing on the field.

Anaheim added Kazmir just when the Rangers started to think they could catch them in the West.

LAA Front office: 1
TXR Front office: 0

Good point, Evan. They do look tired. Perhaps pressing a bit, too. Maybe if this rain finally clears out, the Rangers can make one more charge up the hill. Starting to look like the most realistic playoff shot is to reel in the Angels, so, Go Red Sox! Oh, and Go Rangers, or what happens in Boston may not matter.
