What do You Say? One Last Texas Rangers Depot for Old Times’ Sake Tonight; how about it?

UPDATE, 8:21 p.m. : Here we go …

I am going to take the weekend off to get my life in order before changing workplaces for the second time in seven months, but after leaving you in a lurch the last two days, I’ll blog tonight as the Rangers try to clinch second place, if you are interested in blogging along with me.

What do you say? Could we make a one-last time run at the unthinkable record of 1,016 in-game comments? Could we? Could we?

Hi, Evan! :) What, no lineup for a just-for-grins homer pool? Just for old-times’ sake? Then again, it is early (9 pm start, right?), maybe they haven’t posted it yet. Or, maybe I’m just on better drugs than I think I am.

  • JohnnyMel

    2 down, 1,014 to go.

Been fun this summer Evan, thanks.

  • Rossometown

I think setting the record would be tough, but I’m throwing this in to try and help…

  • Mavs Man

It was a pleasure, Evan. Thanks.

  • GhettoBear04

    I could post Benedict Arnold 1,000 times….

  • Tom B

Dear Carpetbagger, You come back after betraying us and leaving nothing to blog. The Shame of it. And you from Atlanta…Ohh, The Burn!!….Yeah, Sure, Why Not.

  • Brandt

    i think we can.

  • Evan Grant

Everybody clasp hands and let’s move forward. Give it the ol’ Thelma & Louise try. Or maybe there is a better analogy.

  • B. Money

I’ll be playing poker instead of blogging, but I’ll still read the comments either tonight, tomorrow, or Monday.

  • B. Money

BTW: If a pinch runner scores, does the original player get the “Run Scored” stat or the replacement?

  • James

So we’ve already seen what the coverage here will be without Evan, why come back and taunt us tonight? Will there be any coverage of the games this weekend?

  • Evan Grant

@B. Money, the pinch runner gets the credit for the run scored.

  • Lamar in PA

If we’re going for a Thelma and Louise finish, I see a “Is this Heaven?” “No, it’s the Dallas Morning News” moment rolling down the track…

  • Samags

    Evan,
I exploded your new web digs today. Ouch! You have your work cut out for you. One last time from San Antonio! Go Rangers!

  • Fluaggie

    Let’s go Rangers!

Yesterday,Wash gave his Christmas Wish List to the media. JD is very tight lipped. Shuold we interpret Wash’s words as coming from the front office?

    1. Veteran SP: translated…Ben Sheets?
    2. RH hitting OF/1B: translated…Marlon Byrd?
    3. LH relief: translated… Bimel?

    Given the assumptions:

    A. No substantial $ for type A FA.
    B. No desire to give up draft picks, particularly intra- div.
    C. Exclusive of trades.

  • Evan Grant

@Samags: I’ll be counting on all of you to help clean up the new digs.

As far as the wish list goes, it’s just that, a wish list. I don’t think Nos. 1 or 3, are out of realm of possibilities, but I think Ron Washington would like to have Marlon Byrd and an additional right-handed hitting bat. Now, beyond the money mystery is this question: Where exactly would you play that guy with David Murphy, Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Julio Borbon and Byrd all in the picture. It probably would require trading one of the outfielders.

  • scooper

    Hey, guys! How’s it going?

  • Danny

Evan, thanks for feeding the masses w/updates, insights and perspective. I’ve never participated in a rolling blog like Inside Corner before joined in last month. What’s your thought on Rudy Jaramillo coming back, if I remember his contract is expiring?

  • Jack Daddy

What the heck, why not. This should generate some comments. Traded emails tonight with my one baseball friend (the dude that is buddies with J. Peavy) and he on cloud 9 watching Peavy’s game and threw out that he had to be top 3, at least top 5.

I retort that very well may be right, but that the guys in that tier 1 were so hard to separate, that its hard to really rank them. We came up with 2 tiers of exellence:

Tier 1 (in no particular order):

    Santana
    Halladay
    Felix
    Peavy
    Greinke
    Verlander
    Felix
    CC
    Haren

In between Tier 1 and Tier 2 (and closing fast):

    Kershaw
    Wainwright
    Hanson

    Tier 2

    Lackey
    Weaver
Beckett (stuff to be Tier 1 (if not very top, but performance says Tier 2)
    Lester
    Billingsly
Webb (if no injury, Tier 1)
Nolasco/J. Johnson (arguably top of Tier 3)
    Lee
    Hamels
Carpenter (could be back in Tier 1 if another healthy season)
    Gallardo
Jimenez (arguable top of Tier 3)

    Thoughts? Did I miss somebody?

This should be good for at least one comment from everyone here tonight.

    Who is your top 3?
Who do you pick for 1 game, 1 seaon and a career?

    Here are mine:

Top 3: Felix, Halladay and Verlander (see how hard this is? Why not Peavy or Greinke?)
One game: I honestly can’t answer. Probably, Halladay, with a gun to my head
    One season: Felix
    Career: Felix

  • Nancy

Evan, thanks for your insightful coverage. The level of conversation and focus on baseball here on Inside Corner have been fun to follow the past few months. You made a fun Rangers season even more enjoyable to follow. I’ll follow you back to the DMN with high hopes that you can inspire more civil discourse on that site. Good luck!

  • Jack Daddy

Just heard Grieve. I don’t think their is any question Mauer is MVP. I think the only question now is whether he is unamimous.

  • Jack Daddy

I meant “.. THERE is any question”. Correcting typos (and ignorant spelling) may help get that comment record tonight.

    Also “unanimous”

  • Evan Grant

@Danny: The first offseason question the Rangers have to answer is Rudy Jaramillo’s future. His contract expires on Oct. 30.

Yes, the team has underperformed offensively this season. But it’s the first time in 15 years you can say that. To me, I’ll take one year as a misstep, re-charge Jaramillo with his mission and see what happens next year.

I believe this year’s offensive statistical drop was due more to not filling the hole left by Milton Bradley’s departure, the injuries to Josh Hamilton, and, most importantly, the necessary growing pains that any young pitcher must endure.

  • Evan Grant

@Nancy: Thanks for your kind words. And I appreciate every compliment that every one of you has sent my way this week. Quite frankly, I’m overwhelmed and a little embarrassed. I’m glad we’ve been able to use this space this season as a conduit to the Rangers. I’m glad that we’ve all congregated here. But the stars of this blog are you all, who keep coming back and keep the conversation going. Mark my words, I take everything I learned here and will attempt to bring it to the DMN site. But the only way that site will be successful is if the passionate, respectful fans out there like yourselves continue to do what you’ve done for the last seven months.

So, please, allow me instead to say thank you, instead of the other way around. You have no idea what all of who have meant to me.

Though @Jack_Daddy: Your pitching post is too complicated for my short attention span tonight. It’s going to take me some time to digest.

  • Jack Daddy

@Evan – you’ve never responded to my charges that Rudy failed twice before (October of 98 & 99). How do you reconcile what happened in those two 3 games series? Weren’t they eerily similar to what happened 2 weeks ago?

What is is current K? If ownership is transferred, you are talking at around 15-17 guys making the serf minimum. How do you do that, but then pay your swing coach (I refuse to stop calling him that) 2X, 3X that amount? You can’t. Which means I don’t see how he comes back. I think the the budget/financing gives them the perfect out to let him go and let all parties save face.

  • Jack Daddy

    simple:

Your top 3 starters and then who you would want for 1 game, 1 season and a career.

  • scooper

@JackDaddy: I still don’t see how you can blame the playoff losses on Rudy. Those teams were more an example of good pitching beating good hitting, along with maybe some playoff jitters.

  • Ranger_Rick

    Howdy all… Let’s go Rangers.
I have to agree with you JD on Mauer for MVP.
Top 3 – Felix, Halladay, Greinke (he has small sample yes but I like him over Peavy and Verlander)
One game – this is difficult but I have to go Halladay too.
    One Season: Felix
    Career: Greinke
Would prefer to have a couple of Rangers in the mix but we still don’t know who will break out into a tier one or two at this point. I think Feldman, Holland and Feliz though have best chance.

  • scooper

@JackDaddy: Here is a question for you. In October ’98 & ’99, at that point in time, were you blaming Rudy? Or is that just piling on because of this year?

  • Jack Daddy

@scoop – just in that they shut us out SO badly (1 run each series – i believe the two lowest batting averages and run output in post season history are those 2 series).

However, I agree with you that good pitching will beat good hitting though.

  • Evan Grant

@Jack Daddy: Haven’t responded because I think they don’t really have merit. Yes, the Rangers struggled in those two playoffs, but they did so against a dynastic team that swept to a pair of World Championships. There was no shame in being shut down by the Yankees.

Two weeks ago, the Rangers were without Michael Young and Josh Hamilton, which was a huge loss to try and overcome.

I do think this season reinforces that the Rangers must mature in their approach at the plate, but I do think in another year you will see significant progress from a number of the young hitters.

Even if Jaramillo receives $600,000, he will be making no more than $200,000 more than a first-year player with no major league experience.

I get the frustration. I believe there must be improvement, but I believe Jaramillo is the guy to guide that.

  • Ranger_Rick

@Evan: you should not in any way be at all embarrassed… you deserve every compliment you received. It took you to get this started and hold it all together. I was a bit late to the conversation show but have enjoyed every minute since I started.

  • Jack Daddy

@scoop – don’t recall blaming him then. Have thought about it off and on over the years when I have questioned our approach. I am definitely not a hitting expert by any means, but it appears to me that over the years we have appeared stupid in our approach at the plate.

You could never really argue with the results, but that was before it came out that in just about every single case those successful players were juicing. Just about he only player that hasn’t had aspersion cast on him is MY (and he was BEST friends with Arod on that team…)

  • Jack Daddy

let me clarify the MY statement – I don’t believe he has ever taken any banned supplement. But I roll my eyes when he says he was “shocked” to find out ARod was using while he was here. Really? How is that possible.

  • scooper

@JackDaddy: so are you trying to say that MY juiced, too?

  • Ranger_Rick

I don’t know about Rudy. Still kinda undecided on him. It’s been interesting to hear all the comments from everyone here. Right now I’m leaning toward favoring a change but not all the way off the fence at this point.

  • Jack Daddy

injuries killed us no doubt. But haven’t we been 1 hit 2 times this year and 2 hit once? The Tiger game with the knucklehead Willis the game last week and the game against the Gaudin and the Padres? That’s beyond injuries and rookies.

I keep pointing to the NYY series because to me, those failure were mental and I don’t believe Rudy does a good job of helping the players mentally get out of funks or to adjust mid-game. Again, though, what the hell do I know about the art of hitting.

At the very least, it doesn’t appear these particular pupils are getting the message through to them. You can be the best teacher in the world, but sometimes a different approach is needed.

Oh well, I suppose we’ll find out next year. Hopefully, the pitching is even stronger and can carry us again.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JackDaddy: Do you think that the Rangers should fire Wash too just because the Rangers didn’t make the playoffs this year? Jumping to fire Jaramillo because of one bad season (or three, if you wish) out of a 15-year span is a little rash. If you ask anyone what the Rangers are known for, they will say hitting. Rudy was in charge of most of that. Why not give him credit for that instead of trying to take his job?

  • Jack Daddy

@scoop – nope. see next post. I knew that was coming. And I honestly don’t. But I would bet a nickel that he knew ARod was. If not, then he is either very naive or very stupid. Or clubhouses (and friendships) don’t function at all the way I imagined. From what I’ve heard, there are not a lot of secrets in the baseball fraternity.

I just wish when asked about stuff like that, say “I’m not going to lower myself into this fray and become at all a part of it. You’ll have to go somewhere else for your stories”. That way, you don’t appear full of beans.

  • scooper

    Thank you, aggiekatiebeth!

  • Evan Grant

@Jack Daddy: Consider the number of inexperienced hitters in this year’s lineup: Andrus, Cruz (yeah, he qualifies), Murphy (only one full year), Davis, Borbon and Salty. If those guys each improve a smidgeon due simply to experience, how much more formidable will this team be? Minor improvement by many will make for one major step forward for the team.

  • aggiekatiebeth

    @scooper: no problem :)

  • horsedooty

    @Evan,

thanks for this place and your hard work this season. I don’t participate much but I do read nearly post. Thanks again for everything.

    dooty

  • scooper

@JackDaddy: I wish we all had all the right answers when we are questioned about something. I can only speak for myself, but MANY times I think, after the fact, “Man, I wish I had said ….” You are talking about guys that don’t want to turn on their buddies and who believe that the whole conversation should have stayed in the clubhouse. Knowing how things have turned out, I imagine a lot of guys would like a “do over.”

  • Evan Grant

@Jack Daddy: Guess what I’m saying is flip the argument for a moment. Look at how many young players this team was counting on. If you look at this as a young team that is going to get better, then is the offensive performance actually not so bad?

  • Evan Grant

@horsedooty: I know you’ve been a long-time reader going back to the early days of the DMN blog. Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully, we can drag you back over there for some talk, too.

  • Evan Grant

@ALL: Is it bad that I’m spending more time watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3 than the Rangers? I never saw it after rushing out to see the first two. And now I think I know why. It’s so hard to follow, so many double-crosses and what not, that I’m not so sure I even have the story down now.

  • scooper

I say, let’s see how next year goes. I expect out offense will be much better, even if we don’t make any major acquisitions. And look at Kins right now. I think he understands that he needs to be more patient. If everyone is just a little more patient at the plate, we will improve offensively.

  • Jack Daddy

@aggiebeth – I think Wash almost lost his job after 1 yr and 2 weeks (its been pretty well documented). CLint Hurdle was fired 18 months after going to WS. Baseball is litered with firings due to accountability.

No, I don’t believe 1 season warrants a firing. I think the track record over the 15 year period is inflated by 1) a collection of some elite hitters (wouldn’t any batting coach look good with Gonzalez, Pudge, Raffy, ARod, etc., particular when they are cheating), 2) a ballpark that inflates run production (when you look at our road performance over that 15 year period, see if you still think he’s a wonderkind), and 3) cheaters (one of his big claims to fame is GM Jr – now we know why). And I think that 15 year period is littered with failures when confronted by tough situations (over-reliance on HR, no ability to manufacture runs and play small, ball, etc.).

But this story has been beaten like a dead horse. Its not fun to debate because people get so entrenched on both sides and it’s pointless as neither side will capitulate.

Let’s discuss the Danks/BMac trade instead.

  • john in clearwater

I’m a little bit surprised to see Byrd back in the lineup so quickly. One win in this series and the Rangers lock sole possession of second place.

Dang it. I still wish it was first. We just weren’t good enough.

Evan – it may not be a full blown depot with box score and homer pool, but you are going out like a professional, working until your shift is over. In my world, you get a lot respect for that.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Evan: forget Pirates 3. It’s not that good, and you need to focus on our chat instead of all the double-crosses!

  • Fred

Davis now hitting .298, 6HR, 25 RBI since coming back from OKC. This is his 34th game since coming back, so that projects to at least a 25HR, 100 RBI year.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JD: nice word usage with “capitulate”!! Impressive!

  • scooper

    @JackDaddy: (Mr. Entrenched, himself!) lol.

  • Ranger_Rick

Ok, I got a question… will there be another hitter ever like Ichiro? Getting 200 hits season after season. I’m surprised he has stayed in Seattle. Wonder if he will jump ship after his current contract.

  • Jack Daddy

@scooper – I agree with you completely and think you nailed it (I do think he was just trying not to betray a teammate and I do applaud that). Its a tiny point that has sort of nagged at me and I shouldn’t have brought it up, because its not a very big deal. We give him the benefit of the doubt because we live here, have watched the guy and love him.

But I’ll tell you this – if I lived in Topeka, or NY for that matter, and heard him say that he was “shocked” Arod was using, and knew they were best friends on the team, that they stayed close after the trade, that Young went from being a fringe prospect, at best (and that his (idiot) GM wanted to replace him), to a 200 hit machine — well I would assume the worst. Put differently, if he was a Red Sox or Yankee, I would swear he had done it too with him.

But you are right – we all have had instances where we would have said or done something differently if not put on the spot.

  • scooper

@Fred: I think the early part of this season was the aberration for Chris. He had hit for average and power at every level, and I think he will up here, too. I’m excited to see what next year brings.

  • john in clearwater

Really pulling for Davis to make it in the bigs, hopefully for the Rangers.

You know, it’s only my opinion, but I think Ranger fans are a little different than others. More than other teams (the Rays, for instance), people really follow the development of our minor leaguers into major league players. They seem to make an emotional investment in those players. The Yankees just bring in their next free agent and the fans are okay with it, but Ranger fans aren’t that quick to truly warm up to a person that would be considered a hired gun. They would rather root a little harder for the home grown prospect.

  • Fred

@Jac-Those weren’t great examples that you gave. The quwstion on Pudge when he came up was whether he would ever hit enough; Palmero came from the Cubs with gap power, not a HR/RBI guy and Gonzo was pretty raw when he first came up. A Rod was, of course fully developed and taking all measures possible to cintinue developing

  • Win's Dad

It amazes me how on this blog, Ron Washington escapes all blame for the offensive melt down this year. He makes out the lineup card. If he doesn’t like a hitter’s approach, he can write another player’s name in the lineup. He stayed with Kinsler two months too long in the leadoff spot, and stayed with Davis at least six weeks too long, which included the killer month of June, when the Rangers gave up first place basically for good. And what about Daniels. Billy Beane routinely finds players in other organizations and the draft that are pitch burners. This is the fourth edition of JD’s teams, and we still watch hitters that swing at bad pitches early in the count. Four years is certainly enough time for the GM to have an impact in this area. This is a far bigger problem than the hitting coach.

  • Jack Daddy

Pirates 3 was horrible (but was 2 really that good)?

Other than Bourne (and I suppose Star Wars), is there another good trilogy out there where the quality didn’t go down, significantly?

@Evan – I don’t blame the struggles of rookies on Rudy. I blame what appeared to be an inability to reach those young players and help them pull out of it. What happened to Salty’s legendary plate discipline? What happened to Blalock (I think I know). Why couldn’t he help Davis? Why did he mess with Hamilton? Why did Kinsler (a 4th year player) slump for close to 3 months? Why did he think Andruw Jones could be a contributor on a playoff team?

There I go again. I’ll stop. nah, Scoop, I’m not entrenched :)

  • Ranger_Rick

@JIC – have to agree with you there. We love to follow our guys and it helps to have those like Newburg and others that put so much into reporting on the minors. Not sure but it wouldn’t surprise me if other teams didn’t have that kind of exposure of their minor league teams to the fans and the in depth analysis that we get. That has to help in the Rangers case.

  • john in clearwater

Win – I think JD has had an impact. This was a broken organization four years ago. He has found good value this year with players that have contributed. The minor league system is obviously contributing and will continue to do so over at least the next year or so. I’m not going to look up the records, but I’m pretty sure the Rangers have gotten better each of the last four years (at least three) on a pretty short budget. I give a lot of credit to JD. Let him go and he will be out of work about two weeks.

  • Jack Daddy

Fred – Raffy came over in 89. He left in 94 (before Rudy) and came back in 99 (Rudy got here in 95). Pudge came up around 90. Again, by the time Rudy got here, he was established as an all star catcher with an elite bat. By 95, Gonzo had already had multiple 40 HR seasons.

  • john in clearwater

Win – I will have to say that Washington at times has made some curious moves. I have to give you that. But he has made a lot of good moves too. By and large, he’s done a very good job of managing the bullpen.

  • Fred

AJack-You’re right. I expect everybody to have been around as long as I have

  • Jack Daddy

@JIC – agree with you too. I have a much greater vested interest in “our” guys we have developed. I am REALLY pulling for Chris, as I really like the guy and player. I have my doubts and I hope I am wrong and Fred’s referenced stats make me feel a little better.

  • Ranger_Rick

That was a weak throw by Borbon.. he really needs to get some arm strength. I see now what they are saying about him playing in center.

  • Evan Grant

@Win’s Dad: Are we missing the point here? This team has come up short in the playoff race, but did you expect an 8-10 game improvement over last year?

I didn’t. I thought I was being optimistic when I predicted 84-78 back in late March. Credit for the improvement must be spread out throughout the organization, from president to GM to scouts and instructors and mostly to players. Though the season won’t result in a playoff berth, the Rangers have improved year over year from Washington’s first club. To me, that is a definite sign of moving in the right direction.

The easy part, however, is going from 75 to 87. The hard part is getting those extra six to eight wins that make the club a playoff team. Expectation will be higher next year. How this team reacts will help pass ultimate judgment on a number of fronts.

  • Jack Daddy

listen – I hope I am foolishly wrong about Rudy. I can’t imagine the offense being worse next year (Smoak alone will add a much need high OBP element) and even a modest improvement will go a long way (assuming Feliz, Hunter and Feldman don’t retreat and that Holland makes the necessary jump forward).

  • Danny

Of the additions this year, do most of you feel that Mike Maddux? Elvis Andrus? or Tommy Hunter contributed the most to this successful season? my vote goes to Maddux

  • Fred

I had hoped TT had stopped wiffing on those. He still needs a lot of work behind the plate and not just at bat

  • scooper

I’m out for the night, guys. Have fun!

@evan: It’s been fun, good luck, and I’ll see you at the DMN blog.

  • aggiekatiebeth

oh man if Gentry had been in CF this inning would have been over by now

  • john in clearwater

Jack – I know you think Davis needs to be moved, but you have MY hitting right, Andrus, Kinsler, and then a right handed DH along with one of the catchers. Now you don’t seem so left handed heading into next year. Smoak is a switch hitter too if that comes into play. And I didn’t include Byrd because his return is a little too iffy.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Danny: I think it’s a close tie between Maddux and Andrus, but I’m gonna go with Maddux. He affected our whole pitching staff, and they’re actually good for the first time in a long time

  • Jack Daddy

Evan’s is right. In 1986 (my favorite season before this one), we won 87 games and chased the Angels the entire second half, never able to quite catch them but never being fully shook loose either (sound familiar). We were loaded with rookies and young players: Oddibe McDowell, Jerry Browne, Inky, Sierra, the Kiddie Korp of pitchers (Witt, Guzman and Correa). There was an abundance of talent on the farm (Palmer, Kevin Brown, Kenny Rogers). The next year, we fell below .500 and just muddled along until we finally broke through in 1996, with an entirely new crop of players.

Ok, pretend I never wrote that. I will now bang my head repeatedly against the desk until I erase this memory.

  • Win's Dad

JOHN INC.W.- Not sure I agree on the bullpen observation, but good points all. This team is in far better shape than when JD got here, and I as a fan appreciate the improvement. The point is, J. D. hasn’t found pitch burners at the plate. It’s obviously not part of what he’s looking for. It is folly to blame the hitting coach for not changing these guys’ approach at the Major League level, when their approach was good enough to get them to the Major Leagues in the first place. We as fans just may have to deal with batters that swing early in counts at bad pitches.

  • Jack Daddy

@jic – I don’t feel he needs to be, just that there is a good chance he is. I think you accomplish what you need (getting more RH) by moving Murphy instead (and he probably has more value and you have a likely replacement in Mooreland). Plus, if ownership is stabilized and you can get that RH bat via F.A., then you don’t need to move anyone.

  • Ranger_Rick

This is the Chris Davis I think you will be seeing more of in the future.

  • aggiekatiebeth

    @RR: I hope so!!

  • Marcus

@Win’s Dad: It’s been a long season, please don’t bring that weak crap the last weekend of it. Washington gets plenty of flack from this blog and all around for all of his moves. Everyone knew that Kins didn’t need to bat lead off anymore. But who would? And please don’t say Andrus. I bet you don’t know he didn’t even lead off in Frisco last year. That duty fell to the current leadoff hitter, Julio Borbon.

As far as JD goes, everyone wants to sing the praises of the “great” Billy Beane. Let’s recap some of the players JD has brought to the Rangers in 4 years. Salty, Davis, Elvis, Murphy, Byrd, Hamilton, Holland, Hunter, Borbon, McCarthy, O’Day, Feliz and Harrison. Noticen that doesn’t even include guys like Smoak, Engel Beltre and others that are still in the minors. Has JD made some bad moves? You bet, but I dare anyone to find a GM that hasn’t.

  • john in clearwater

Win – I would go only in a slightly different direction and say you need guys that get on base and guys to get those guys home. Compare these team OBP’s….

    NYY – .362
    LAA – .350
Oakland (for crying out loud) – .329
    Texas – .320

A team OBP of .320 is not playoff baseball in the major leagues. And yes, the Rangers need help there for sure.

  • aggiekatiebeth

we’ve gotta get Borbon out of CF!!

  • Jack Daddy

I think Maddux has been huge. I am an enormous JD supporter. I often scratch my head as some of Wash’s moves, but you are going to get that when you manage by your gut and not “the book”. Wash understands that. I look at the results (I think getting 87 wins with this hitting and this many rookie pitchers is one of the all time managing jobs) and the fact that these players (1) like him and (2) play hard for him. Until the results and/or #2 change, this is his job and I won’t complain.

I think often times we don’t have all the facts. A great example: on Sunday, all of us (me included) went nuts when he didn’t PH borbon for Jones to lead off the 9th. He did bring Borbon in to bat for TT. Well, it turns out that Hamilton was NOT available (even though he threw Wash under the bus and said on Sunday after the game that he was). So, Wash, only had 1 lefty available and chose to PH for TT instead of Jones. Entirely defensible in a 1 run game. I probably wouldn’t have gone that route, but it was not the dumbest move in the history of the game.

Yesterday, Adam Morris riled on Wash for leaving Millwood in to pitch the 9th. Why? What difference did it make? Today, Millwood acknowledged that it was very important for him to finish that game. I think Wash did the right thing.

We’re a bunch of lawyers, accountants, doctors, teachers, students, and knuckleheads questioning stategic moves by a guy that has worn a big league uniform for what, 25+ years? We should save our scorn for over rated swing coaches. :)

  • john in clearwater

Jack – I forgot to add Cruz to the RH hitting list. Even with all those RH hitters listed, I agree that the Rangers could still use another RH bat even above some type of RH DH next year. I think JD will dangle Murphy, Hamilton, and maybe even Borbon (if they are not sold defensively) out there to see if he can get equal or greater value in a RH player. I still don’t think he deals Davis with Smoak not ready yet. Remember that Washington is a “defense” guy and Davis has a pretty mean glove at first.

  • Jack Daddy

meanwhile, not a single writer in this city retreated for bashing on Wash, when it came out on Tuesday that Hamilton was indeed NOT AVAILABLE. They were on to writing crap about the stupid Cowboys (Evan gets a pass since he was busy turning all of our baseball lives upside down).

  • john in clearwater

Can I claim the knucklehead position?

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JIC: I don’t know about Wash trying to deal Murphy. He likes Murphy a lot. He keeps batting him in the 3-hole, and he went from a 4th or 5th outfielder earlier in the season to being a mainstay lately.

  • Jack Daddy

I go to bed tonight (and all off-season) with the nagging thought that (assuming his shoulder can hold up in the pen) that McCarthy is better suited to being a 6th-7th inning guy in the pen (Feliz’s role).

I think he can be REALLY good in that role as opposed to average (meh) as a starter.

If his arm is of the type that the pen introduceds too much injury risk (though I doubt it, as that is what he did in Chi), then I say he would be the guy I look to move as part of a package to get a high OBP RH bat.

  • Win's Dad

Just an observation. Last year, the Rangers made a Major League leading 132 errors and of course had the worst Major League fielding percentage. This year the Rangers have made 106 errors and are 12th in the A. L. in fielding percentage. Johnny Oates used to say that to win a championship, a team needs to score 800 runs and make fewer than 100 errors. This team will do neither, as they now have 776 runs scored on the season. (Okay, they could score 24 in the last 22 innings of this series and get to 800, but not likely.)

  • Marcus

@Jack Daddy: Right there with ya on McCarthy in the pen. I wonder if the Ranger’s pride will allow them to do so.

  • Fred

@Jack-Couldn’t agree with your 2nd guessing comment more. And, I was also puzzled/amused AJM’s snit about Millwood being left in to finish a well pitched laugher on his last appearance of the year. Couldn’t quote figure out the downside, but there’s a lot I’ve never understood over there.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@win: that’s why we’re not a championship team. But you’ve gotta admit, 106 and 776 are close to 100 and 800. It’s definitely feasible to assume we can get there next year.

  • Fred

@Jack-I think McCarthy was better suited to play in Chicago

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Fred: I don’t know, McCarthy’s awful skinny to play in cold weather. He needs more fat for isulation! :)

  • john in clearwater

Aggie – I like Murphy okay too. He’s a major league player. But if that’s what it costs for the Rangers to improve, it’s got to be done.

  • Jack Daddy

so nobody wants to trade Murphy or Davis?

    Here is the problem:

if your staring OF is Borbon, Cruz and Hamilton (iffy if neither Borbon or Hamilton can play CF, but let’s go with it), and your DH/4th OF is Murphy, what do you do when they start a lefty? Don’t you need ONE of your primary DH/4OF to be a righty since 2 of your starting OFs are LH? Introducing Smoak doesn’t help. Assume he’s at DH. Ok, he can turn around and swing RH, but you are still in the situation where you are starting 2 guys in the OF that are LH AND your 1B is LH (Davis). Same story if Smoak is 1B and Davis is DH.

Now, let’s assume that the 4th OF is RH. Now you at least can get a 2nd RH bat in the lineup and sit Borbon (though you are still batting Hamilton (who did hit lefties well this year) and Davis. So moving Murphy for a RH 4OF helps a little bit.

Now, what happens if you move Davis for a RH DH that also plays OF? Now you can EITHER get Borbon out of the lineup (by playing this new guy in the OF, or you can leave him at DH (or 1B), replacing Davis. If you resign Byrd (or bring in 2 new RHs), you can do both.

If you do nothing, you will always have to play 2 of Murphy, Borbon and Davis vs. lefties. That is not a good recipe.

I don’t know much buy I guarantee you the Rangers will not go into next year with 3 of their 4 OFs AND their DH AND their 1B being lefthanded. That will not happen. I don’t know what they do to change (I bet they don’t know yet), but that will not happen.

Maybe Borbon gets moved and Gentry is in CF.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JIC & JD: it’s not that I don’t want to trade Murphy. I like him, but I wouldn’t mind trading him. I just don’t think WASH wants to trade him. But I really want to keep CD, he’s a hometown boy!!

  • john in clearwater

Midnight on the East Coast. Gotta go to bed. Let’s hope the Rangers pull this one out. Night all.

  • aggiekatiebeth

I wish we could combine Borbon’s offense with Gentry’s defense. That kid has a great arm! But I’m guessing he’ll spend next year at AAA, since he spent most of this year at AA.

  • Fred

@Jack-During his brief minor league career, Smoak hasn’t hit lefties well. So, unless he develops fast (splits in college weren’t as good against lefties, either), he’s not a RH answer, either.

  • aggiekatiebeth

is Evan still with us? He hasn’t chimed in for awhile.

  • Jack Daddy

@aggie – wash doesn’t have too much of a clue on how to construct a roster. I’m sure he wants Murphy. He wants everything. He’s like a child that wants dessert after you’ve left the restaurant. He’s not rational. Managers can’t be. They want every possible weapon at their disposal, even though rosters have 25 men and there are limited dollars.

He also said he wants a RH bat. He also said he wants to bring Marlon back. He wants Murphy. Where do all these guys play?. He also said he wants a veteran pitcher but he also said that he loves Holland, Hunter. He likes McCarthy. Touch decisions have to be made to construct the best possible roster that fits.

I trust JD to make those decisions (the last time he listed too much to his field leaders for a personnel move is when Buck and Orel ran off Chris Young (please, please, let’s pretend I didn’t mention his name and rehash that history – I beg of you!0.

  • Jack Daddy

    @fred – bingo.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Jack: you make a good point; Wash wants to keep everybody. It will be up to JD to make the tough decisions, and he’s good at that. Who is Chris Young? ;P

  • aggiekatiebeth

    :P

  • Tom B

It’s getting near the witching hour which leaves Evan turning into a No Show around here. So May I raise my glass and propose a toast to the leader of our band of “Little lost sheep who have gone astray” if not Wiffenpoof. JD, Fred (Good to see you back for the finale) Scooper has turned in but some long time regulars are on tonight. I’ve enjoyed every hill and valley of this season here. The only game of Rangers I’ve seen this year was an Inside Corner event. Not even a TV or cable presentation have I seen. It has all been this blog and ESPN MLB that has provided every insight. Thank You all for so many compeling arguments and more BS than the Ft Worth Stock Show. It doesn’t take long to know who knows their baseball and who just wants to Blow Hard. I loved all of it and of course all produced through the efforts of one, Evan Grant. Lead on Maestro. God Speed and Farewell.
    In Big “D”
    Tom B.

  • Jack Daddy

Bottom line is that right now we have some very nice parts that don’t quite fit well together. That’s ok though, as left handed, proven major league hitters have VALUE. I’m sure there are teams out that struggle to hit right handed hitting. There will be a fit. But it probably means moving one of these hitters that we have grown to like.

And there probably is a chance that you are going to see one of the pitchers get moved. Harrison is probably not an option. I think they really like Hunter. Hurley is not an option. They aren’t going to move Holland or Feliz. I think we should expect the unexpected. NOBODY saw the Danks or Volquez trades coming. I think there is a good chance we see a trade like the volquest/Hamilton trade. Is Delmon Young somebody that might get moved again? If Rudy is so awesome, maybe he “fixes” him like he did GMJ, DeRosa and Byrd.

I’m telling you that this off-season is going to be nuts. Particularly with the mgmt uncertainty.

  • aggiekatiebeth

I will definitely keep my ear to the ground this off-season to see what I can find out. I’m anxious, but excited, to see what shakes loose!

  • Jack Daddy

Tom B – back to you and to all the regulars. It was awesome to watch the games, talk some baseball (learn a lot), debate the finer points (but always respectful), chat pop culture and bond together. Best time I’ve ever had following a sports season. You guys are the best.

  • aggiekatiebeth

wow, Andruw Jones actually got a base hit! Color me surprised!!

  • Jack Daddy

you know you are tired when you, within the span of 10 words, refer to the same person as both “Volquez” and “volquest”.

and that would be ownership, not mgmt, uncertainty.

I think I at too much at the Fair this afternoon!

  • JustSaying

@jack lincecum is missing in your tier 1 list…..and he’s in his first year of arb so even more valuable……..

  • aggiekatiebeth

oh, lucky, I wish I’d eaten too much at the fair today! And I knew what you meant, don’t worry. :)

  • Fred

@Tom B-Enjoyed it, too. Sorry I didn’t get to meet your dogs. Thanks for helping to balance the demographics a bit.

  • Ranger Fan

I figured I should join in for the last time…getting sad.

  • Jack Daddy

@js – wow, how did I miss him? Definitely top 5. Probably top 3. Maybe #1. Good job.

  • aggiekatiebeth

    yes!!

  • Ranger_Rick

    MY comes through again!!!!

  • Jack Daddy

man, ichiro is a good ball player.

nice job, Michael Young. good lesson for these young pups – keep grinding for 162.

  • aggiekatiebeth

I’m really glad that was Esteban German and not Andruw Jones running

  • Ranger_Rick

Jones wouldn’t have been 1/2 way to home when the throw came in.

  • JustSaying

@all i feel jack’s pain with rudy……rudy might just be too al for this team……i sense a little nl emerging in the rangers and i think that is a nice move…..situational hitting and bunting…..geez that would be wonderful to watch andrus and borbon wreck havoc on the bases…….i’m not sure rudy is the guy to lead that charge…..not so much about blame as about who he is and who this team is/am/will be…….

  • aggiekatiebeth

yes, ichiro is amazing. I’m actually (pleasantly) surprised that we got the safe call!

  • Ranger Fan

Why he was pretty clearly safe….

  • Jack Daddy

    @RangerRick/aggiekb – agreed and agreed.
@JustSaying – nice way to put it, removing emotion and blame.
    @RangerFan – agreed.

why not put Davis at 1B and PH for the dh spot when it comes up? you have Pudge on bench. you have gentry on bench. you have richardson on bench.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@js & Jack: I understand what you’re saying about us having a young team & needing a “swing coach” with a younger mentality to match. Makes sense, but I’m still on the fence.

  • Evan Grant

i am here, just watching and listening.

  • Jack Daddy

@aggieKb – i meant i agreed with RF that it is getting sad. i think the play at plate was a little closer than clearly safe. Though I do agree he was safe. Pretty clearly. :)

  • aggiekatiebeth

@rf: I know he was clearly safe, but I expected the throw from ichiro to be right on the money and make it a tough call! So I’m pleasantly surprised that it didn’t happen!

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Evan: I think you were napping & just woke up! :)

  • Ranger_Rick

@evan did you finally give up on Pirates 3?

  • JustSaying

and i’d be will be resign omar if he was given the additional duty of teaching guys how to drag bunt, suicide and other nuances of being a nl beast on the basepaths……there is a hella knowledge bank there that we could gain a lot from…..and he comes in cold and has how many errors this year….nada….cero…..nothing…..zero……

  • Ranger Fan

@Jack Daddy: Davis isn’t playing 1st bc of the hammy…

Regarding Davis..were there any postgame comments from Lackey and/or Davis/Kinsler about Lackey’s homerun outburst at CD?

  • Ranger_Rick

@akb: agree with you about Evan :)

  • Fred

@Jack-I think Davis’ hammy is pretty bad. Can’t stretch

  • Ranger_Rick

Did he buy a seat for that bobblehead

  • JustSaying

and it’s like i don’t love rudy and pudge but hey guys unemployment is 9.8% and with cost cutting and lean and mean yata yata…….

  • Fred

@RF-Davis told catcher about hammy next AB, and that he wasn’t trying to show Lackey up. Lackey said OK, no big deal.

  • Ranger Fan

Thanks Fred…still think Lackey is a child but, OK.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@rf: lackey is such a tool!

  • Evan Grant

Pirates 3 is over. Just been watching the game without having a lot to say.

  • aggiekatiebeth

    nice job cj!!

  • Ranger_Rick

Don’t know why Lackey opened his big mouth to begin with.. there isn’t any rule that the player has to sprint around the bases. For that matter on a homer he can walk if that is what he wants to do.

  • Jack Daddy

ok – 1 inning to go. Here is my last Q of the year:

    1. Would NYY consider trading Melky Cabrera for Josh Hamilton?
    2. Would Texas make that trade?
    3. Would you make that trade?

Switch hitting CF, still 2yrs from F.A. lower ceiling but much higher floor.

I wouldn’t do that trade. But could you get the Yankees to sweeten it? Do we REALLY feel good with what we have in Josh?

They are 1 of the few teams that would not be scared by his history and would salivate at the chance to mkt that guy (the fans already love him).

    Thoughts?

  • aggiekatiebeth

    @Evan:surrrrre you have :)

  • Ranger_Rick

Yea, its been that kinda evening.. not much to say and the game seems slow too.

Well got an early day tomorrow and don’t think I could make it into extras if it goes that far. Ya’ll take care and g’nite.
Its been fun Evan and see ya at DMN.

  • Fred

Lackey is a bit prickly, but most pitchers take some offense if batter milks a HR too much, either standing and admiring it at the plate, or a very slow trot

  • Jack Daddy

Phil Hughes and Melky for Josh? Joba and Melky for Josh?

If you believe in Josh’s upside, you don’t trade him for hardly anyone. If you don’t (relapse, injury, whatever), don’t you move him for any trade that can help you with some important pieces (RH bat and a starter or a bullpen power arm to replace Feliz)?

  • Evan Grant

@Ranger_Rick: Since the club got eliminated, it’s been difficult for me to get really fired up to talk about individual games. That’s why I admire your passion so much.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JD: wow, that is intriguing! I would love to get Melky Cabrera! I mean, I love Josh, but that’s a tough one to turn down!

  • Jack Daddy

they need to get davis out before he tears that muscle. he did not look good running to 1B.

  • aggiekatiebeth

they won’t trade Joba, no way

  • Ranger Fan

I’d like to not have TT hitting here…

  • TimW

Looks like the comments are gonna come up a little short of the record. Good luck at DMN Evan…see ya there!

  • Fred

Not sure TT is who I want up here

  • Fred

How’s that for a reverse jinx??

  • Ranger Fan

    Genius reverse psychology…

  • Jack Daddy

@aggie – there are rangers fans that I’m sure would say we won’t trade Josh, no way. Joba didn’t inspire this season by any means. He has not dominated as a starter. I’m just throwing it out there. But I take it from your response that you would absolutely move Josh for Melky and either Joba/Hughes. I think if you are the Rangers, you have to make that call to them to see what response you get.

  • aggiekatiebeth

    yes!

  • TimW

Good hit Taylor! Hopefully the bullpen can hold it…

  • Ranger Fan

I think Fred and I can take an assist for that run..ok not, but still…

  • Jack Daddy

    @fred – i thought same thing.

  • Tom B

    Can Frankie save it?

  • Fred

Make that .307 for Davis since he came back. Nice finish. Amazing what you can do when you know you can’t run

  • Jack Daddy

i didn’t follow Angels series that close, so forgive me – has FF pitched sinced the game that I like to call “the kick to my tenders”?

  • Fred

@Tom B-He could have in April/May, but I never know, these days

  • aggiekatiebeth

if Josh & Tom can take credit for “the call,” Fred can take credit for TT’s hit

  • Jack Daddy

@evan – no thoughts on trying to get NYY to pay full retail on Josh? wouldn’t Melky look good in CF with either Joba or Hughes filling the Feliz role in the pen (allow Feliz to start), and then sliding into closer role in 2011?

  • Ranger Fan

If I saw Josh Hamilton in a yankee uniform I think I would lose my lunch…and hate baseball. Perhaps, that’s exaggerating. I love baseball. But I’ll admit Josh brought me back into the fold. Of course, I always loved the Rangers and paid attention but the passion that it takes to follow a baseball team for a 162 games, it’s minor league systems, scowering the web for articles, etc….came back when Josh had his magical season. He jumpstarted the rebound that I believe began last year. I can’t bear to think of him not here…at least until mid-year next year. If he’s not better then OK…but they can’t let him go. I think everyone believes he will be better next year. Maybe not 2008, but signifigantly better than this year. He’s low money and has the potential to explode. You have to have that.

  • Tom B

A timely hit does wonders for that 2nd guessing bug.
Is it time for Feliz to close?

  • aggiekatiebeth

@rf: it would make me wanna urp to see Josh in pinstripes too

  • Jack Daddy

this is going to sound blasphemous – but TT frames a much nicer pitch than Pudge.

    Don’t you think Fred?

  • aggiekatiebeth

oh, that was a great game!

  • Tom B

Hello locked up 2nd place West

  • Ruffian

This will saound blasphemous as well (leading question coming up), but what has the Rangers ERA done since Pudge took over as the primary catcher?

  • Danny

did any of us have this team pegged for 87 wins this year? this was a good season.

  • Jack Daddy

@ruffian – already thinking it. not apples to apples, as the pitching is somewhat out of gas, but there is something there. We better stop though. We’re sure to incite a riot!!

  • aggiekatiebeth

    @Danny: agreed, GREAT season

  • Tom B

    @ Jack Daddy and Fred,
TT has some wonderful receiving tools but there is a nagging problem somewhere. Fred has alluded to it in past games but he just doesn’t move right sometimes but he seems to have good connection with the pitchers. He has some work to do or he has peaked and will have to go.

  • Ranger Fan

I’m on record as saying I’m underwhelmed by Pudge but…I just think money is better spent elsewhere.

  • Fred

@Evan-Thanks for making this summer more pleasurable. You built something wonderful here. I have little hope that it will remain.
I’ve been sorry to see the lame duck emerge. Wish you really had finished your last shift.
Good luck with DMN. It’ll be tough duty. A lot tougher than being the lead baseball beat writer, if you’re to be a multi-sport blogger over the next few months.
I’ll look in, from time to time to see hoe it’s going.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@JD & Ruffian: I’m not taking the bait. I love Pudge.

  • Jack Daddy

@tom b – no doubt. he definitely moves at times like somebody with a balky back (noticed it more around mid-summer).

  • Tom B

@Danny, I had 88 from the get-go. So I’m still waiting in the Place line and looking to move up to the WIN window this weekend.

  • Jack Daddy

notice how josh said “see you all real soon, I hope” rather than “see you next year”?

I don’t get feeling he’ll be back in booth. Barnett was horrible in radio booth (pains me to admit) but is much better on TV. They can then search for a radio voice or just go with Busby, who is solid.

  • Tom B

@JD, I’ve played that position and you have to slide out there to block pitches away and in the dirt. He just does not always get there. Salty made so much progress that I have hope for TT.

  • Ranger Fan

Oh please lord no…I can’t bear to listen to Barnett. It is as boring as boring can get.

  • Jack Daddy

@danny – I actually had 89. However, I based it on a slightly improved pitching staff and a monster offense led by Kinsler, Hamilton and Davis. So while I am very close on the win total, I couldn’t have been more wrong in how season played out (other than Holland and Feliz doing about what I expected they would).

  • aggiekatiebeth

I love Busby on the radio, but I don’t like Barnett and Greive together. No chemistry. Not too happy with Josh & Tom, but it’s better than Dave & Tom

  • aggiekatiebeth

But you’re right, it did sound like Josh was saying “goodbye” instead of “see you later”

  • Ranger Fan

I love Josh and Tom. Great chemistry, entertaining and knowledgeable. Doesn’t get better.

  • Tom B

You have to give Nippert a big Pat on the back for coming in and shutting the door for 2+ innings. He might be under appreciated. Good Job!!!

  • Fred

@Jack & Tom B=Actually, I agree with Tom B that TT has a big gap in his game behind the plate. Don’t really understand it, but he just seems to short arm some pitches, up, in and out once in a while (went thru a bad stretch in middle of season where it was more than once in a while). I kinda understand because I had a spot like that, just over my head, at 1B, but his is more general. Totally wiffs on some.Throws well. Good foot work. I doubt he’ll ever hit consistently enuf to be a ML starting C.

  • aggiekatiebeth

@Tom B: yeah, Nippert did a great job. Couldn’t ask for more!

  • Jack Daddy

@tom b – agree on Salty. I wish people acknowledged more his terrific season behind the plate. .250 with the D he had is NOT a bad season. KOs were too high, but the rest was not a disgrace.

  • Ranger Fan

Well, it’s been a good season. Can’t wait for February already…Hope to see you guys next year!

  • Jack Daddy

@fred – it was strange after all that we heard to watch this year and see that Salty (imo) was the far superior defender. maybe it was the back, maye it wasn’t. but i do think the guy has a great rapport with his pitchers and sets up nicely (pudge seems to constantly move all the way to the point where the ball is on the way, which umpires hate).

Nothing like a white collar nerd analyzing the technical defensive merits of HALL OF FAME catcher!! :)

  • aggiekatiebeth

alright, that’s it, I’m done. Night all!

  • Jack Daddy

@tom b- i think nippert is a big part of this thing next year. he and mathis both really seem to have taken to the long man role. They were salty all year. If our offense had been the comeback offense of last year, they might have 8 more wins between the 2 of them.

  • aggiekatiebeth

thanks Evan, see you soon on DMN!

  • Jack Daddy

well at least we broke 200 comments.

Going to wash off the fair. I’ll be here throughout the hot stove league, piping in occasionally. Will definitely be back to check out the game depot next season. Hope many of you do too. Will also be at Spring Training for a weekend at some point. Maybe some of you will make it down there (this will be my first time).

Have a nice fall and winter.

    Best,

    Jack Daddy

  • Tom B

@ Evan, You’re a Prince. Anything I said that offended I ask your and others understanding. I usually don’t enter into direct assualts on others intelligence or stupidity. And I appreciate your patience and hard work this season. It has been a great time for me. Thank You Much and Good Luck. That Closes it out for this season.
I think Becca said it best “You provided a non-threatening environment for one to express an opinion and not get dissed.” (Para-phrased) There have been some super knowledgeable women with valuable insight on here this year. Scooper was superb, Ranger Fan and Callie valuable, Rangerette was good. and late comer AggieKatieBeth if I have that correct and all are extremely knowledgeable. They could play on my sandlot team anytime. I know many were better players than I ever was and much more astute in the Xs and Os than just about anyone I know personally. Good Show.

  • Evan Grant

Well, not a bad way to go out.

    200+ comments.

    A comeback win.

    Clinching of second place.

    I’ll go out in second…..

    Thanks, y’all. See you Monday.

  • Fred

@Jack-Salty improved behind the plate more than I ever thought he could. Just wish he could improve on throwing the ball back to the pitcher (and that was not a problem that just cropped in the last couple of months). I was obviously disappointed with his bat–.233, 97K’s, .290 OBP and .218 BA with runners in scoring position. I don’t feel real good about the catcher position right now.

  • Fred

    Well, that’s it.
    Happy trails, y’all.

  • Tom B

@ Fred, I’m with you on that. Catcher is a Black Hole for next year unless a miracle happens or they find a gem.
    Miracles rarely happen.

  • Samags

Way to go Rangers! A very good year. Thanks for an exciting season.

@JDad- no way the Rangers trade Josh for Melky. Josh is a potential superstar. Melky is not.

    Good night folks!

  • JustSaying

c’mon now we still have 2 to play….don’t go all anmesia now……..

  • ebennett

    Evan

I know that finances are always an issue for any team but let’s assume that the Rangers could add say $20 million over this year’s payroll.

How would you spend the money? Who would you go for?
