One game, does not a season make. Sometimes it's good to be bad by so much. It destroys the illusion that it was a fluke. The right pieces are there and they should have performed better but it will take a wee bit of massaging my the old genie on the bench to but the right pieces together on the floor. Love Dirk but he is not going to be your 37 minute man on average. Just have to find what works and that will take some time.

Same old Mavs -- no D, too many long jumpers with plenty of time on the shot clock, and an expectation that Dirk can do everything.

BTW, and I think Dirk is a franchise player, when is anyone going to get on him for never spending any time in the weight room? He has not gotten any stronger since he joined the club, which is one reason why he is so easy to push off the low block.

The new faces did not perform well. Marion was not a game changer here and Gooden was outright terrible. The lack of ball movement is concerning. Time after time the ball was not in playmakers hands when the shot clock was winding down.

It would be nice if the team ran some plays instead of jacking up quick three's once they got down early in the forth.

Defense is a "want to" facet of basketball. It's not pretty. It doesn't show up the stats. And it wears you out so it's more difficult to put up stats. But if you don't play it you will be eliminated in the playoffs. I'm not sure the mavs have the right players to make it happen. Kidd is too slow, Dirk is too soft and there are no low post players that can protect the rim. Right now D is all talk and no action in mavs land.
